Everyone that said they would take the rack instead of the meat is hunting for the wrong reason. You are just killing to kill. You really need to grow up and think about what you just said.

There would have to be a reason to have to make a choice and I can imagine such a situation, like maybe an agreement between hunters, that are sharing a short hunt, where the chances of both succeeding are not that great. The agreement could be that the shooter gets to choose, but can't have both. The friend gets the other. In this case, I'm taking the rack if it's a good one. I can kill a doe almost any day of the week for meat. Taking a good buck doesn't happen all that often. For certain the meat wouldn't be wasted. In fact, I'd probably make my hunting buddy agree to give me a deer steak dinner. In return, I'd let him look at my mount while we enjoyed a beer, admiring it.

I'd take the meat and hide the rack up my arse so the judges couldn't see 'em.[:@][:@]

On a serious note, I would take the meat for sure. You should only be taking the rack if you needed them for tools(you know running around in buckskin and stinkin) but I don't think we're talking about that.
