Default Aerial Photo of my hunting grounds

Here we go guys, this is a photo of the land family members and I just purchased. The large open areas are now in 5 year old pine, very thick and suspected bedding areas. There are about 6 food plots on the place as well, with wheat, corn and chuffa(sp). We have basically everything inside the creek on the left and everything South of the creek and the top. Also, you see a road on the right makes up our Western boarder and the road above the camp at the bottom forms our Southern boundry.

Lets here your thoughts and suggestions on stand sights. Most of hardwoods seen are in ravines, with large washouts, etc. Fairly thick in areas and open in other areas.

Well, I'm having trouble getting the pic to load, hang in there.

I had to "right click" the X - then click "properties" then copy the address and paste it into my browser -

But I got it -

I really like the number of funnels - I count 3 MAJOR ones, and probably a dozen lesser funnels.

Its a little hard to tell the scale - Are we talking about 1000 acres? Maybe a little more?

Very nice either way.

I'm not sure what is going on with the pics, sometimes I click and they are there, sometimes not?

Anyway, the property is 450 acres

Looks like a nice property Reacher. Hard to tell about stand placement from an aerial but I'd be out scoutin that baby, hard! You look to have many nice possible sites, funnels, water sources, abundant food plots and thick pines. Off season is your time to really learn the 450 acres. Quadrant it off and do some extensive scouting quadrant by quadrant. By doing so you will find those suspected sweet spots. Re-visit each quadrant until you are VERY comfortably acquainted. Move you scouting to the next in a clockwise fashion until you meet up with the 1st. Take a recorder with you or take notes as you go. Piece by piece you will begin to form opinions as to how to hunt your land. I wish you the best and keep us informed as to what you discover. We might be able to help you further once you afford us some details as to your scouting FINDS.

Looks quite a bit like where I hunt...patchwork quilt landscape. However, it is difficult to make a determination because changes in elevation are not always easy to detect from an aerial photo. I tend to prefer hunting the "mouth" or the corner of the "mouth" of hollows, small valleys etc... If your land is primarily flat then I would look specifically for funnel areas leading to and from food sources. That long thing strip of woods about an inch left of the words "harlin creek" might be a good place to start.

What state is the property located?
Start with the food sources and go from there.
If the property is located in an area that grows water oaks...find them! The deer will be there! Find where they sleep and then find a funnel that leads to a feeding area.
Property looks good with several areas (natural and man-made funnels) already present for good cross winds. I would find me a couple acres back in the trees near some water oaks and plant a nice patch of cow peas.

Looks like a grea hunting spot. Sure is a lot of timber and good fields.

First thing I thought was, "look at the funnels!" But then I remembered how narrow some of my 150 yard wide "strips" looked from the air. Corners are usually good and funnels are great, but without scouting the area, the best area isn't immediately apparent.
