B&C Wanna B,
Quit while you're ahead! Atlasman obviously has ALL the answers and we're just a bunch of naive, gullible fools! You're happy where you hunt and I'm extremely happy where I hunt, so leave it at that. Enough said!

Good Luck This Coming Season,
(like we'll need it!!!)

How am I mistaken?? The deer numbers have consistently decreased in that time span without question
Well 30 years ago you were lucky to see a deer, where we hunted in Tioga county.I see deer about 90% of the time I go there now. When they did start giving doe tags they were called party permits because you needed about 4 guys to get one. Where I live in vestal there were no deer in the woods above my parents neighborhood, now the woods are full of them.

I'd rather see quality deer then numbers of deer anyway.

doughboysigep ... we play quite often at Genes(whatever) as it's easy to get on usually. We also play the park South of there. We've played Afton. We're hackers and just out there to have fun. We'll shoot from the low eightys to the low 90s. It's about the only time of the year either of us play much anymore. My buddy just retired and says he's going to be ready for me this year. I may have to play before I go a few times and make a few trips to the range. I usually win.... but last year I went totally dumb and got my butt kicked pretty well. It was so bad he had the card for one day framed and sent it to me for Xmas. He shot an 80(37 going out) with a 7 on 18 and I had an 92. I hooked 3 balls in the river over on 14 and 15. I never hook. The other days were not as bad, but I took it in the shorts everyday. I usually beat him and he makes me adjust on the back. Never again. REVENGE is the goal this year.[:@][&:]

I see Charlie P has played Afton as well. You probably ran into him.

THose numbers are a bit high. Hundreds of thousands of hunters killing four doe each? I know some people have great success but how many people took 4 doe last year. I personally know at least 100 hunters and not one harvested 4 deer.
And why do you think that is?? Not enough deer around to take those #'s? So why even hand out tags? Isn't the pupose of the tags to practice QDM Aren't they called wildlife management tags? What are you managing if the #of harvests are lower than the allowed amount. So pretty much what they are saying is kill as many deer as you can!!! you won't reach the tag limit so shoot away. Right? Haven't you seen the enormous climb in the total harvest #'s and it's steady incline. Record smashing #'s the last three years. Where do you think these deer go? It's not like grass they don't just grow back.

Not again NYB Not going to get into the deer population but ...

Actually I don't think it has anything to do with QDM - that is based more on buck harvest restrictions (as well as doe harvest) - from what I know about it you need a large piece of land (hundreds of acres) that you can control what is being harvested to make it work. Can't work in most areas with public land - if I let the small 4 or 6 go by the guy down the road is going to take him. Just my take on QDM.

And... well.... they actually do grow back

FORE!!

Maybe we can organize a HuntingNet golf tourney??

I'm game - we could pick a central local (binghamton ) depending on who would be interested, pick a date and post in the Northeast forum?? Just a thought.

Those are very respectable score David. I was a 5 handicap at Genny last year (I had one of my better years)

Not if you kill her before she gets it or him before he wellllllllllll gets' it. You can't transplant a leg or something and grow them. WMU's is what I was talking about. Those infamous 7 tags you can end up in your possesion. Basically says kill as many does as you can.

I think the golf tourney would be a cool idea. Have a golf tourney/3d shoot. I know of a course we can hold it.
