Did you ever read about the indians stampeding a herd of buffalo over a cliff...There is a reason for all this technology. Necessity is the mother of invention.

Lots of guys have done something similar to what you're thinking about. It isn't easy, but then again, the feeling of accomplishment is that much greater. I myself, have some staves drying for a selfbow that I plan on making. I'm not sure if I'll make my own arrows, or knap my own flint broadheads, but I'm looking to increase the challenge, and therefore the satisfaction from my hunting.

I'm getting closer. I went to a longbow 2 years ago, shooting instinctive. I don't use an ATV, a GPS, scent lock clothings etc etc. I do use carbon arrows, modern broadheads - things like that because the way I shoot I need every advantage I can get !!
Truly getting to the roots would be making your own self bows, arrows and trade points (or flint knap) and go kill a deer on the ground with it. THAT would be ultra rewarding.
Do it Zak. Buy a longbow or recurve or learn to make your own self bow - fun fun !

I'd definately be interested if I didn't have a limited amount of time to hunt. If I were rich and didn't have work I'd buy a big plot of land and live off it. Build a cabin, grow veggies and hunt what ever roamed my land. Too bad I'm at work righ now. It's killing that buzz.

I agree with adams. I would do it, if I had a nice parcel of land and the time. However, I too am at work, so unless I win the lottery - not gonna happen.
I am thinking about making my own bow, though. As for not using all that technology has to offer - I take the bare necessities when I hunt. I do not use an ATV, GPS or any other electronic gadgets ('cept flaslight).

You too!!! I have wanted to do this since i was little. My friend and I are already planning a primitive camping trip sometime next year. We will hunt and fish for our food, and make camp up ourselves. We won't be using anything we don't need.
