I recently asked what arrow size I should be using and the answere was as I expected, 2315. I am shooting (fingers) a Jennings Unitech(medium single cam) @ 65lbs draw using a 100g broadhead. Attached to my bow is a 2" overdraw which I used in shooting my 27" 2117's. Should I get rid of the overdraw completly and lengthen the 2315's to 29-30". I also have a cusion plunger on the overdraw, should this go? I am trying to get everthing geared up for a spring black bear hunt here in the Bella Coola Valley, BC.

It's really your call. If you simply want to try going without it, take the overdraw off and give it a try. If you decide you want the overdraw, then put it back on and get a couple inches cut off your arrows.

2315's weigh something like 8 grains per inch, so going from 27 to 30" arrows, you're only looking at 25 grains of arrow weight. That's about only about 5 fps arrow speed. It won't make any practical difference on how your arrows perform on game.

Its not really gonna make a big difference. If you dont feel comfortable shooting the overdraw take it off. If your shooting good with it leave it on.

For what my 2 cents worth here is my answer. I think that your arrows will do the job on a black bear with or with out the over draw. The main draw back to overdraws is to be real accurate then you must put your hand wrist and arm in the exactly same position every time a difficult task but possible. The reason for this is because any verances in this positon is magnified about 100X on the rest. I dont use an overdraw and no one that I hunt with uses them anymore. They used them for about a year when they were the craze and then hung them up. But Dont change anything if it works for you. Dont fix what aint broke.

I like Arthur's post. Take the overdraw off. Removing it will increase the bow's inherent level of forgiveness and will only reduce arrow speed by the previously mentioned 5 fps.

If you want it back on then do so and just cut your arrows.

I like not using the overdraw because of the forgiveness of them longer arrows, and the extra knockdown power.

Thanks for all the helpful tips. I.ve taken the overdraw off, sold it as well as my underspined 2117's and ordered some new amo (2115 XX78's).
