Default Best Safety Harness

Just curious as to what safety system most of you guys use. I have the safety harness that came with my summit viper but find it cumbersome to put on. I was thinking about one of the vest types!

Seat-of the Pants harness! It also has a built in lineman's belt which is great for climbing trees and putting in pegs or trimming braches.

Good Luck!

I also have the Viper and I use the Seat of the Pants that came along with the stand. It is a little cumbersome at first but I put it on under my jacket before I leave and it really works great. I'm sure some of the Vests out there are also good but a good 5-point harness is hard to beat for safety.

use a seat of the pants that came with my summit, little difficult putting on in the dark. i just bought a vest that has the harness sewned into it, step into the leg straps fasten the chest snaps and you are good to go. i use the vest for the quick hunt when i don't have much time and the sun is setting. both harnesses are good harnesses, again i use both and feel safe in either one.

I use the seat of the pants and love it. I fell using a belt type harness. Cabelas and Bass pro both sell the seat of the pants, best money I ever spent on hunting gear.

I too have fallen once. Thank goodness I had on my seat of the pants harness. My platform slipped off my feet and there I was hanging. I was able to undo myself from the harness and shimmy down the tree. This is a good harness but cumbersome to use. I will try putting it on under my scent blocker suit. It seems the vest type that has the harness sewn in would be very quick and easy to use. After the falling spell, I will no longer use a belt only the harness. I could only imagine being dangled upside down on that tree.

After trying several I purchased a seat of the pants from the recommendations I got on this forum. I was not sorry, the best there is IMO, and I had tried several before this one.

The SOP gets my vote, a great, SAFE system. I'm hearing a lot about these safety vest systems but I don't have any experience with them.

arkansasbowhunter,

Summit makes a vest that you can snap the Seat O the Pants harness in. Here is the link....the vest is at the bottom of the page:
