Stealthy, the difference between you and me is this. I gave up and switched sides too, for awhile. However, when I learned how willing the crossbow side is to kill off the segment of archery that I love, just because that is the segment where they have the most trouble, it made me pull my head out of my butt and realize the fight was still worthwhile. At least, for the time being.

If, or should I say 'when', crossbows are legalized, I will join the fight to establish an all traditional season or, at the very least, specially designated 'traditional only' hunting areas. And I won't be too darned particular about whose toes we have to stomp on to get it accomplished.

[8D]:)Zel, or Stealthycat, (can't remember which one of you asked the question)...

Ohio already has crossbows in the archery season. It presents nothing unusual in the way of problems. Do I "support" the idea of crossbows in our archery season?

I'm old enough and tired enough to not care much about such matters anymore. I do understand that this subject is a study of logic vs. feelings and that type of discussion/debate is always interesting and rarely productive.

I enjoy camp coffee in the mornings and the fire after the hunt with my friends regardless of what they may choose to kill with that day.

The only thing that really matters is whether or not the compound is a Mathews. Anything else is for girly men.[&:]:D:D:D:D:D

VC - If you had X-men powers and with the stroke of the pen make laws (we'll call you STROKER) would you allow crossbows to continue to be legal in Ohio ? Would you make them legal in Indiana in general archery season ?

Remember, you are now Stroker, your rules, no ifs, ands or buts. By making your stroke, you'll be making the laws.

If I were Stroker for a day, I'd legalize them in all 50 states. Why ? They add to the numbers of hunters who take to the woods, no doubt, and that is never a bad thing. If theres an issue somewhere down the road with bag limits, seasons etc, we'll assess ALL weapons and go from there, not just targeting one group because the PBS don't like 'em.

What about you VC ?

RE: using a crossbow?

I love crossbow threads in bowhunting forums becasue they are fun to read.:D;)

However I took stock on what I have used so far this year to hunt deer and was surprised. I had not used my crossbow once to hunt with. During the archery season here either my 12 year old or 13 year old son had used it instead (while I had my compound bow. )

So maybe I will take it out hunting on the 26th of this month just to tick somebody off. I feel lazy anyways.

zel-ste--When you argued about abortion, I argued WITH you, because you were right. Now that you're wrong, we're on opposite sides.

Let me ask you this: Have you ever had to let down on a deer that wouldn't take that final step or wouldn't give you the right angle? Most bowhunters that have been at it awhile have. Why? Because they simply couldn't hold at full draw any longer--even at 80% let-off. YOU are at full draw as soon as you're set up in your stand. Holding at full draw with an X bow isn't an issue because you DON'T hold it there.

I did agree with getting different tags for the different weapons and then choosing to hunt with just that weapon. I already hunt exclusively with a bow.

You are, of course, WRONG about everything else! :D

I am probably done with this thread too--unless someone really pisses me off!;)
