I like the idea of the whisker biscuit rest,.. as some of you here have elaborated upon its advantages. However, I have heard that it damages and distorts the vanes of your arrows if you practice a lot. Has that been your experience?

NO.

My experience. Stock fletching from the factory fletched Gold Tip arrows last damn near forever. When re-fletching my arrows (mostly damaged from other arrows) I use Bohning vanes. They also last a LONG time. I shoot a minimum of 24 arrows a day in the winter and up to a 100 arrows a day in the summer. I currently have 24 arrows that I bought in June. I have probably shot 5000 shots since then with this group of arrows out of the WB and 20 of the 24 still have the original GT vanes on them.

Not a single problem here either. If you want, you can trim the biscuit thinner for less restance. I' m only 2 years on mine but have no plans of giving it up.

Why is it every pri-shop I take my bow to trys to talk me out of mine? Are they trying to upsell me?

Yes. I had a few issues with mine when I first got it. With that said, let me ellaborate. I am shooting Beman ICS Hunter shafts which are notoriously hard to keep flechings on. (I' m also shooting right helical). I probably went through a dozen or so arrows in which atleast one fleching pulled off. (This is not unusual for those who shoot other types of rests as well). I solved the problem with arrow wraps. This created a surface in which the fleching could adhear to the shaft securely. I have yet to have a fleching fall off!

There is an initial " breaking-in" period of the biscuit. During this time, you will notice (plastic veins) some discoloration (black) and/or warping along the edge of the fleching. After this " breaking-in" period I have not seen noticable wear on any of my flechings.

In my opinion, this is, by far, the best rest that I have shot. It is a dream while in stand. you can manipulate your bow in any direction without the arrow falling off the rest. It is just as tunable as other rests on the market and just as accurate if set up properly.

There is a slight loss in speed, 1 to 3 fps, but with a bow shooting around 270 fps, A couple fps don' t bother me at all.

I have a stupid noob question: What' s a helical?

The flechings in a sense twist around the shaft (When i say ' twist' i don' t mean all the way around the shaft. I mean that one end of the flechigns start in one location and the other end is a couple degrees off from where you started. Think of threads on a screw...) in either a clockwise or counter clockwise direction. It is used to create spin on the arrow as well as create a bit more drag on the rear of the arrow for more stability during flight.


If anybody has a better discription, please fill free to chime in. Hopefully you understand what I mean bscofield.

yup got it. That makes sense. Just never seen them in a shop before... or if I did I didn' t notice them anyway.
