Default Maryland Bowhunting during gun season

Hey guys and gals. I moved to maryland this year and got a question about bowhunting during deer gun season. What are your experiences hunting with bow during gun season? Also to double check my comprehension of the hunting laws, a bow shot deer during gun season counts towards the gun season limit?

Thanks
Dave

Any deer taken during the season in which you hunt in goes directly towards that season tag. i.e. Gun season with gun, bow, muzzle loader go towards your gun season limit for that region and there' s four regions. Yes, it' s awesome.

I take my bow every early muzzle season and take a buck every time. It goes towards my muzzle tag for that region. It' s legal and better in some cases. Now bow season you can only obviously use a bow. Basically, your bow can be used during any season.

As far as any " good" depends on where you hunt and the hunting pressure you have in the area. Every place I hunt is bow only because of it' s surroundings.

If you' re not overrun with gun slingers it' s fine. Our little woods is usually pretty quiet so it can be done. You' re right about the deer counting toward your gun tag, saves you a bow tag. You have to abide by the laws concerning the wearing of blaze orange just as if you were gun hunting.

So if I read your post correctly I can crawl up in my little treestand and bow shoot a buck and it will count towards my gun tag? Hmm that will work. I got 1 buck and a 1 doe with bow so far during bow season, that means if I bowhunt during the gun season I do not have to take my 2nd doe before bow shooting another buck. Sounds great, sure would like a bow shot at this nice buck on sat. or sun if the oppurtunity presents itself.

Oh by the way, I have not gun hunted deer in 17 years. The same year I started bowhunting)

Thanks
Dave

One of the nice things about hunting MD is that you get to start all over whenever you change hunting regions or the weapon that is in season changes.
