Default Bow Hunting Stinks!!

This is the first year I was succesful with a bow. And man what a year. I have killed 5 does and 2 bucks with my bow. I bow hunted through muzzle-loader season and had some success as well. Now it is full gun season and I' ve tried to hunt with my bow but to no avail. The deer are pressed and wise now and it is very hard to get a shot within 40 yards. I pulled out my .308 yesterday and killed a 6 pointer. Yes my heart was pounding when he came out but it just wasn' t the same. Bow hunting has ruined me!! (But for the better I believe.)

I fully agree, gun season was such a bore this year!

I agree. Using a gun just isn' t the same once you get hooked on bow hunting.

Bowhunting is the best but i will gun hunt if my tag isn' t filled by the time rifle season opens.I would much rather take a deer with my bow than a gun any day!

I picked up the bow 2 years ago and haven' t shot a rifle since (of course, I haven' t shot a deer since either!).

I think next year I will have to gun hunt to fill my tag. My freezer has been empty for too long!!!

I' m a little over a week into my gun season. I compare it to the feeling of going to work everyday. I won' t be dissapointed when it' s over. I know I' m still dreaming and tommorow is opening day of bow.

I agree. If I had had a rifle throughout bow season this year, I could have easily shot 4 bucks larger than the two I got with a bow. It gives me hope for next year and the sense of accomplishment just would not have been there. Also, the nine point I got at 12 yards with a bow was a thrill that gun hunting will never give me. In fact, if I had a rifle that day, I would have shot him at 40 yards in a hunt that would have had hardly any memorable moment at all, ending a little over 10 minutes after I entered the woods.

I' ll still gun hunt because I do that with my father who only tried bow hunting for one season before giving it up. He saw some deer he said he could have easily shot with a gun, but couldn' t get a shot at with a bow. That frustrated him, I guess. I suppose it is the kill with him instead of the hunt. The sad/funny part is, he' s buying all of these different deer hunting calibered rifles and is excited about leaving to me as a legacy. I' ll be happy to have them, but come hunting season I' ll still be grabbing my old bow first.
