I have read that post before! While it is very interesting how much a deer can survive, I think Portable was asking a different question. The way I read it, he was asking if the carbon itself would poison the deer if it stayed inside the deer.

scar955, yes that is exactly what i was asking, with the posts i' ve seen, it seems to be the aluminum shafts that the deer have survived with, i have not seen one with a carbon, will the carbon material itself kill the deer over a period of time?

This doesn' t go to the original question but a lot of folks (myself included) think that picture of a skeleton with an arrow in it is a fake. I' m pretty sure it' s not even a deer skeleton, and our resident vet thought it looked fake also.
