I' d be willing to bet he will be gun hunting on Fri. It happens quite often. When I used to hunt in the Oakland area of Western Md we would leave on Fri morning and just get things set up and visit with the land owner. You would hear shots all day down in the meadows and you knew it wasn' t sighting in as they were always one shot or a bust in quick secsession.
Man I hate hearing that. There is always a couple of single shots in different areas around me on tha last night of bow/day before gun season. It is not that the guy is keeping his family from starving. He just has to be sure nobody else gets " his" buck opening morning. He can then wait till the next day, tag it as legal and " feel good" about it I guess. sad.

I have to take culpability here myself. This year, I didn' t practice with my crossbow till a bout 2-3 weeks before the season opened. When I bow hunted, I practiced all year round It wasn' t easy to find a place to practice. I had to take my bow and a small target to the back of a local school early on saturday or sunay mornings to get my practice in. But I managed. I did spend 6 hours firing my rifle one day this year before the season opened to make sure I was confident with where I would hit with a specific load.
