I went to my pro shop the other day and was listening to a conversation that 2 customers were having with the so called pro's. The one guy says that he got his bow set up and tried to shoot through paper to see what happens and got an ugly tear. He was asking for some input for the so called pro's and to my amazement said I don't pay too much stock in that. YOu can move your knock point but don't worry about it. then the other so called pro says I don't put too much stock in it and said that I don't shoot through paper just as long as it gets there I am happy. What is all this crap that I just heard? I think I won't be asking for help from them in the near future.
Atleast I have you guys for all my archery needs. I just lost my faith in them and was just blown away. Oh one more thing the guy says that I could see my arrow duck and dart when I release it and the Pro said as long as it gets there. Ye gads man. Wow blew me away. Just felt like sharing.

Well, what he said about the bad arrow flight does get my attention. Bad stuff there.
About the paper tuning... I put absolutely no stock in it either. It's nice to shoot pretty holes in paper, but it's really just as much of a test of shooting form as it is a test of bow tune. Some people use it and it works fine for them. Other people wind up going crazy because they can't get the mythical 'bullet hole.'
On those rare ocassions I ever do any paper tuning at all, I use it just for a starting point. After that, I tune for best groups. Same thing with broadheads.

I usually start out by paper tuning, then move to sighting in and it's usually little adjustment to get it shooting great groups. I don't paper test on a daily basis, but I feel it has its place when you are setting up, or experiencing major shooting problems.

I do have some more options near me so I am ok for now.
I just couldn't believe that he saw his arrow moving darting and stuff you know what I mean all over the place and as long as it gets there. I will just get stuff from them but not for there input though.

I do belive I would find a new shop. I paper tune first, then broadhead and group tune. I don't just stop at paper tuning, but it is a great first step to getting my bow tuned properly!

I can see them saying don't worry about paper tuning,it is not the only way to solve poor flight. But to say as long as it gets there from a pro shop is not saying much for the owner or the deer. The better the bow is tuned the more penetration you will have when shooting a deer.I would look for another shop.

I've been scared by some of the things I've heard said by the "shop guys at some of the shops I've found also and I think it's very disturbing. I found a shop that carried Bowtech in Evansville and paid them a visit. There was a kid in buying a new Tech 29 and was getting all the accessories too. He asked if broadheads would shoot like his field point out of this bow and the guy told him they would. After he had told him that the fall a way rest he was selling him "didn't have to be tuned". I could hardly believe it and I couldn't help but speak up about it, so I did.
This other guy with the kid shoots compound without sites using fingers; nothing wrong with that but: he told me he when he's in a treestand, he nocks the arrow above the nocking point instead of under like he would practicing from the ground. We got into a pretty big discussion about that one too. Some of the crap I hear in shops makes me laugh right at people.
I'm glad I have you guys too set me straight.
