ASAT 3-D System + Ground Blind=SCORE!
#1
It was fairly chilly this morning but persistance and the new camo paid off. I was sitting in a blind that I had crafted in a fallen tree top which was overgrown in honeysuckle.
About 9:30 the first deer of the day came cruising by. It was a five point with a busted up rack. He stopped at 35 yards and looked right at me. No indication that he saw me.
When he turned his head I drew, put the pin on him, and released. Sixty yards later he piled up. The original Fred Bear Razorhead took out both lungs.
Over the years I have taken six deer from this blind with bow and several more with firearms. Went back this afternoon to try for a doe. Wouldn' t you know a perfect ten point came down the same trail and stopped where I shot the five point. I think he was smelling the blood on the ground. In Maryland you have to take two does before you can shoot another buck. Bummer! Looks like I will have to hunt another zone while the rut is on.

Bowhunterman, I hunt mainly in Frederick County on private property.
Highcountryuser, in most of Frederick County the bag limit on does is unlimited with all weapons. The limit on bucks is two per weapon but two does must be taken before the second buck.
If you try to hunt in various deer management zones you need a lawyer to figure out all the different rules and regulations.

Congratulations Steve on the buck. I would like to know how much you think the ASAT leafy system actually contributed towards the harvest though? From what you stated I would assume that you have taken other deer out of the stand in past years. Why do you think the ASAT made this time somewhat different?

Congrats on the buck Steve, but like PAB I too wounder how much the ASAT contributed to the kill considering you have taken deer from the same stand before with out it. Do not get me wrong, if I had some money to burn I would buy it also.
