It was fairly chilly this morning but persistance and the new camo paid off. I was sitting in a blind that I had crafted in a fallen tree top which was overgrown in honeysuckle.
About 9:30 the first deer of the day came cruising by. It was a five point with a busted up rack. He stopped at 35 yards and looked right at me. No indication that he saw me.

When he turned his head I drew, put the pin on him, and released. Sixty yards later he piled up. The original Fred Bear Razorhead took out both lungs.
Over the years I have taken six deer from this blind with bow and several more with firearms. Went back this afternoon to try for a doe. Wouldn' t you know a perfect ten point came down the same trail and stopped where I shot the five point. I think he was smelling the blood on the ground. In Maryland you have to take two does before you can shoot another buck. Bummer! Looks like I will have to hunt another zone while the rut is on.
