RE: Need help..Just stuck a MONSTER!!!
why even ask for help on this site???
half the people here offer support or idea' s, and the other part believes they could track a chipmunk through a thunderstorm if they grazed it' s ass after a 100yrd shot. this board fits the saying, the more things change, the more they stay the same. |
RE: Need help..Just stuck a MONSTER!!!
HighCountry_BruteForce, I would never take a 100yd shot on a chipmunk and definetly not durring a thunderstorm for fear of an ass hit and possable loss of game![:o]:D[&:]
Buck00, These guys are right, This deer could be dead! You need to put in some hours pal. Get out and keep looking. I' ve lost some, I' m not bashing you for loosing yours, but you haven' t looked yet! |

Good Luck! |
RE: Need help..Just stuck a MONSTER!!!
Too bad on your deer man. Sorry you had to hear all the crap from some of these guys..
|
RE: Need help..Just stuck a MONSTER!!!
that sucks dude. dont give up hope though
|
RE: Need help..Just stuck a MONSTER!!!
Such a magnificent animal is only worth 3 hours to you? I get the feeling from you that includes drive and walk in time too. I think you should stay out of the woods til you learn some respect for the animals you hunt.

RE: Need help..Just stuck a MONSTER!!!
It really sucks to lose the deer of a lifetime, but it happens. I want to correct something one of the bashers said, and say all the time about SEEING YOUR ARROW HIT THE DEER! One of the biggest mistakes bowhunters make is peeking! As soon as you release, you drop your bow arm so you can see your arrow! DON' T DO THIS! Remember to follow through with the shot! Any good archery instructor will preach this over and over.
I' m not saying you did this. But I see crap like this posted all over this board and folks just getting started shouldn' t take what they read here as the word of God. Go to your Pro shop and take lessons. Shoot from various angles, while standing, kneeling, and sitting. Just remember to follow through with the shot. You' ll still see the dark spot on the deer where your arrow hit, but it will fly a lot truer if you don' t peek. |
RE: Need help..Just stuck a MONSTER!!!
You don' t have to peak to see the arrow. If you just keep boring a hole in the " SPOT" you' ve chosen with your eyes you' ll see the hole appear. In the case of a non pass through you' ll see the arrow. I never try to pick up the arrow,... just the spot and the arrow will appear there.... or the hole. Even on a slam dunk the hole will just appear. Not giving him crap so much as trying to educate and see if we can get to the real picture of what happened.

RE: Need help..Just stuck a MONSTER!!!
I' m sorry to that you didn' t find your buck of a lifetime. I don' t know the area you hunt terrain so on. And I don' t want to sound like a self proclaimed bowhunting expert we have enough of them on here. But it doesn' t sound like your uncle was much help. I' m guessing that your uncle is the one that convinced you to stop looking after a couple hours. I would go back to where you found last blood. Mark that spot and search on my hands and knees for blood.and mark the next spot and move up. Even if only one third of the arrow penetrated thats still 10" of arrow in him. I personaly would not give up after 3 hours on a buck of a lifetime. And agian this is just my opinion and you would know better than me you were there. If you don' t get him good luck next time. J.J. |
RE: Need help..Just stuck a MONSTER!!!
Hopefully the one lesson you have learned is to aquire the permission of EVERY landowner within 1/4 mile to access their property in persuit of a wounded deer. BEFORE YOU HUNT.

RE: Need help..Just stuck a MONSTER!!!
I am glad to hear you say he is ok.
I just find it very hard to believe that a 5 yard shot got such poor penetration and only caused superficial damage and he is already chasing does across cornfields. |
RE: Need help..Just stuck a MONSTER!!!
by the way you never answered my question, have you ever lost a deer? I have a prior commitment here in 1 hour but plan to search all day for this deer after i get permisson from the neighbor. And then praise Jesus, there he is chasing a doe this morn! With no signs of injury! Someone catch that turnip truck! I just fell off.[:' (] |
RE: Need help..Just stuck a MONSTER!!!
Your right nub. Sounds kindda fishy to me.

RE: Need help..Just stuck a MONSTER!!!
very fortunate indeed

RE: Need help..Just stuck a MONSTER!!!
This post broke down a long time ago. Let' s just slam the crap out of the guy. Sorry about the deer. I' m glad you saw him running the doe. Your intentions were good in seeking help but in the future, you might want to consider not posting a wounding thread. I mean...Look at all the help you have gotten on this one. I bet all the " experts" keep it to themselves when they wound a deer....And you can bet that they DO wound them without recovery at times. Maybe I' m wrong about the " experts" ...They must be blessed with the gift of true arrow flight on every shot regardless of the tension surrounding the moment. Probably totally calm and cool in the seconds prior to release. Ice in their veins...Never had buck fever. Been there done that, it' s just old hat. Yea that' s the ticket. The Steelers are going to win the Super Bowl too...

RE: Need help..Just stuck a MONSTER!!!
Glad to hear that your deer is still out there and doing well.:)
There are always going to be circumstances (that you can' t control) that affect where that arrow hits. I can' t understand why some feel that they have to be so critical in their judgment. Isn' t it funny how some people never lose a deer and get the perfect shot each time? I do believe they collect their spent arrow and pretend it never happened. There' s a huge 10 point running around here with a severely wounded shoulder. I' m sure someone is going around unhappy because they couldn' t find their deer. If they were still tracking him it would be over a week and half since he was hit. That' s one long trail to follow....... |
RE: Need help..Just stuck a MONSTER!!!
i had the same thing happen to me on a doe i hit one lung and found her about 250 yards away just give him time and you will find him

RE: Need help..Just stuck a MONSTER!!!
Bigbuck00 and others who post about losing deer, I don' t think it is the fact that you post about losing a deer that sets some of the members off. Most of the slamming comes in when people post about how long they searched for a wounded animal. Don' t post saying you only looked for a few hours for a wounded deer. They honestly do deserve more effort than that.
I' ve lost deer throughout my hunting career, but I also searched long and hard for those deer, some I looked for exclusively for 3 days, daylight to dark. We owe to these animals to give 100%. Good luck the rest of the season and don' t let the words of a few guys keep you from visiting and posting here. |
RE: Need help..Just stuck a MONSTER!!!
00, just wondering if you ever found the arrow? tough luck on the deer. Do you use open on impact or do you use fixed blade? Good luck on trying again.
