The rut here in West Virginia is just getting started. I saw my first scrapes the last couple of days in October. Things were heating up then the heat wave set in which really slowed things down. The next few days here the lows are supposed to be in the low 30' s and the high' s in the 40' s so things really should start to heat up!!

Just getting ready to start. There' s been a bunch of scraping and we' ve seen several really nice bucks just tagging along with the does. I figure about the end of next week when I' m in NY it' ll be perfect here in Maryland.[:' (] It' s rained for 2 days and been exceptionally warm the past week. I just came back from hanging a stand in the dark during the last drizzle before it stops. I expect tomorrow they should be freshening up those two scrape lines I found. We' ll see.

Here in Jersey The rut is really heating up I had a doe come right under my stand with a buck following grunting up a storm. I can only shoot one buck in the zone I hunt in so I passed him up ( a little basket rack 6)I was very tempted though. There are tons of rubs around but not many scrapes,I' ve only seen 1 in fact,There are a couple of big boys in the area a 12, a couple of 8s and a really funky non typical that has a couple of tines that look like a chin stap. There are some rubs on cedar trees 10-12 inches in diameter.I only hope I get a chance at one of the brutes. Oh, I' m new to the board, I have really been enjoying it so far . I look forward to sharing stories and getting some of your input.

Here in KY it should fire up real nice this weekend due to the temps falling off again. The deer started rubbing & scraping & then stopped when the temps climbed close to 75-80 earlier this week. They went nocturnal & holed up & moved very seldom during the day.
They are responding to deer bleats, grunts & doe in heat scents so they are ready to go & will be chasing does very soon. I would say we will see breading in the next week to 2 weeks - no matter what the weather turns out to be like.

Here in northern MO, last weekend in the cool (40-50 dgree weather) weather, I saw two bucks come through right after the doe went through. This weekend should be close to prime time.

Here in North - Central Illinois, bucks are tending does in the fields. Watched a big guy about two hundred yards away in a picked corn field. He was interested in his does, but he was eating his share of husks. So maybe 26 degrees tonight and full moon will fire em up!

I' ve seen some bucks showing interest here in Ohio. The other night I was driving home & a doe ran across in front of my car. About 10 ft off her rear was a nice buck being pulled right along with her.[:-] <----- for Jeff

Have not seen a lot of activity down here been way too hot, but a cold front has moved through with todays temps only in the 50' s so it should be picking up
