RE: What' s The Status Of The Rut In Your Area??
Here in central N.C. i started noticing scrapes about 2-3 weeks ago that had been tended daily, then it seemded like the tending stopped. I have seen a spike chasing the heck out of does and then other bucks by themselves that did not seem to be interested in anything but themeselves, when does are 100 yds away. Im hoping the spike is just being anxious.

There has been alot of movement here in central Iowa. I seen a nice 12 + point buck this morning running a tree line in the middle of a cut bean field. This monster had his nose to the ground like a bird dog, unfortunately I was just glassing before I my put ten hours of work in today.

I live near central Oklahoma and have seen deer chasing does. The first deer I saw chasing a doe was last Friday, it was a little 6 point. Since then I have seen other bucks off the side of the road doing the same, they have all been little ones until yesterday. As I was driving to my place to get in the stand, I saw a 135" 8 point running a doe around in a wheatfield. I think it is the early stages of the rut. By next weekend it should be kicking in pretty hard. That is good for us bowhunters, but bad for the firearm only hunters. Good luck everyone!!

last week i saw a lot of scrapes and rubs....they went dead through the heat wave, and in the last few days they have picked up again...looks like the rut is getting good.

Here in Western Iowa the rut is in full swing. 9:00 AM yesterday on my way to work I saw a doe running down the middle of a road. Just when I realized what I saw I hit the brakes and a huge typical 8 pointer jumped out of a corn field and started after her. Ignored me completely. She ran off the other side of the road and he ran after her. Even though he was only an eight pointer, his rake was massive! Only a mile from the house too.
