Hey there.... Get a load of this....

I was just talking to another guy at work, out in the workshop, that I didn' t know was a bow hunter. I mean, I heard he hunted and belongs to a big hunt club and stuff like that (he' s kind of arrogant and junk, but I guess he' s alright).

Anyway, I was telling him about my old, reliable, " Ebay special" PSE Edge 1000 lefty bow that I got two seasons ago, and how I had it all setup by the bow shop for about $100 bucks more. I like it and it' s great! [:-]

Anyway, after I told all these details to the guy, he was dissing my old PSE bow! [:@] He was like, " Man, get yourself a Martin or a new Hoyt. That old bow won' t go through a deer! It sounds like it' s too heavy anyways. Not only that, it' s probably way too slow compared to today' s bows. 41" ATA? Man, that' s way too big to use in a tree stand!"

GIMME A BREAK!!!! I wanted to smack the guy upside the head!! [:@][>:][:' (] I' ve been shooting this bow for about 2 years now. I like it and am comfortable with it. I can handle it as I' m 6' and 210lbs and don' t struggle to pull back 65#' s. WTF is wrong with some people?!? [:@]

Let me ask you guys... What is so wrong with using an old ' 96 model PSE bow? It' s a great shooter and was checked out my the bow shop and is square and true and stuff. I like it and have confidence in my ability with it.

There is nothing wrong with using an older bow. Most of my friends have them. Granted, newer bows are better, but older ones work. I would get together with this guy and out shoot him. See how he likes that.

I wonder how the indians killed there deer with bows? I mean everyone is hung up on speed these days.

This guy is a moron, If you cant take a deer with 1996 compound at 65#, than how they were taking bigger game 20-30yrs ago?

Here' s an old bow story. I bought a brand new Hoyt bow around 1987. I bought another bow a few years later and sold the Hoyt and all accessories to one of my buddies for $100. He used it for ten years or so and upgraded to a new bow in 2002. I bought the old Hoyt back for $50 to use as a backup bow. The farmers son wanted to take up bowhunting this year so I gave the kid the bow. The bow is still in good shape and now three hunters have had a chance to cut there teeth with it. Pretty cool.:)

The point is...There is nothing wrong with your equipment if you are comfortable with it. It' s yours and you are happy and confident. By the way...That old Hoyt from 1987 has never had any problems with passthroughs...Tell the guy to stuff it.[:-]

Tell your co-worker that personally said he is full of it and his eye color has to be brown.

Accuracy, not speed, is what kills. Heavy computes to steady and less post-fire shock and vibration. In addition, if he cannot easily handle a 41" ATA bow in stand, he must be hunting in an untrimmed spruce tree.

I do believe it is time to tell the " Gucci" and " gadget" crowd where they can put their gear. The " stuff" really gets wearisome, doesn' t it?

He is full of BS. Nothing wrong with your as long as you shoot it well and it does the job. Getting a passthrough can be done with just about any bow as long as the shot placement is correct.

I' m with you Butch.
I shoot a PSE ThunderFlight Expess that I bought back in 1994. Still kills deer. If you want to get this guy back you should invite his to go shoot some day. Be a gentelman and let him shoot first and then stuff your arrow right down his shaft. That will shut him up. well maybe not. he might cry about his arrow....;)

Let' s see... the Native Americans used a carved down sprag of hickory or whatever kind of wood with a piece of cat gut strung between the ends. Cedar shafts, fletched with turkey feathers and hand-made broadheads (attached to the shaft with more cat gut). Camo? They didn' t have Hydrofleece, ASAT... how about skins from the deer or buff they shot the year before - off which they tanned the hides themselves. AND THEY GOT DEER.
