A bow shop guy said it best. An arrow from a 35lb recurve will go through a deer. Any compound bow shoots harder and faster than that. Don' t worry about that part of it.

Butch what you should do is give him the URL to this thread and let him read it! Maybe he could tell me how I killed a deer last year with a 20+ year old black bear bow! There are those who can and there are those who can' t but own the latest and greatest to make them think they can!

I know Taz.... I know....

I " right clicked" on Zelazny' s beautiful buck taken with a long bow and saved it on my PC, then temporarily moved it to a folder on my Novell server at work. I went out to the shop and talked to the guy some more. I showed him the photo and he really likes it and thinks it' s great. But somehow he changed his tune a little (after I explained that Zelazny bagged the buck with a longbow), because he said, " oh sure thing... You get an arrow in the right spot with anything, and you' ll bag a deer" . Hmmm.... not exactly what you were saying yesterday, fool! [>:]

Inquiring further, I asked him about his bow and stuff. He' s got a new Martin MV2, 70# draw, and shoots over 300fps with carbon arrows (I forgot the name of the carbons he shoots). His bow has all the bells and whistles you could think of too. BIG DEAL is what I have to say! I like my PSE Edge 1000C and how it fits me and shoots for me. [:-]

That statement right there says you have the best bow in the world!!! For you, money and bells and whistles do not a good bow make, confidence in your equipment makes a good bow.

Old bow, new bow doesn' t really make a difference if you can' t hit what you are shooting at. I am still shooting a first model Golden Eagle. Its like 15 years old. Why? Because I like it. I Still kill deer with it every year. Plus, why do I need a 350 fps bow to make 15-20 yard shots? I think you got a good deal and if you are happy with what you are shooting, to hell with what other people think. I hunt mainly with an old recurve anymore and if people don' t like it they don' t have to eat any of my venison steaks.

Redpath -

I had a Proline also. A Point Blank. My first bow from Ebay for $98.00. I loved that bow. It came with a Bodoodle rest, Kwikie quiver, Archer' s choice sight, wrist sling, and stabilizer. It was one smooth and hard hitting tack driver. I broke down and bought a new Pearson Anaconda. Had to sell the Proline for some cash but wished I coulda kept it. Love my Pearson but wouldn' t say I was really that much better off.

The older bows can kill deer just as good as the newer bows....

If it works for you that is the only thing that matters....
