Maybe it was a long horn??? That reminds me of the things we use to do. We would make are own rubs on trees to fool the other hunters. I was having problems with a hunter moving in on my stand this year.I watched how he walked to his stand from his truck. So I made a rub line off in another direction and the dummy followed them and now he sets up there.Away from me.
Another trick we did was> We knew where the deer usaully were at in the morning. We knew where the other hunters parked and walked in to the woods. So we would make fake rubs so they would head in that direction toward the bedded deer area. All they did was chase the deer to us on there way in. They were driving for us and never knew it. We were on private land that borded public land.
