Ok, I spent all day in Loggy Bayou this past Saturday and I got to tell ya, I thought I was going to need a crane to get me out of it at dark. I' m thinking of looking at a new stand and really have my eye on the Summit Viper. How comparable of a bow stand is it to the Loggy? The thing I like so much about the Loggy is its wide open design. Nothing to get in your way but the tree at your back.

Is the Summit Viper a good bowstand? I know it has the bar in front, but I' ve read that you can adjust the seat up to move the bar down some. I like shooting from a seated position, but can stand if need be.

Whats everyone' s thoughts?

I BOWHUNT OUT OF MY VIPER . I KILLED A DOE OUT OF IT AWHILE BACK I WAS STANDING . I DON' T NO ABOUT SITTING SHOT. BUT THE VIPER IS GOOD STAND BUT ANOTHER STAND TO LOOK INTO IS THE SUMMIT COBRA OPEN FRONT EASY TO SIT AND SHOOT.

GO DEEP HUNT HARD.

ANY of the Summit sling style seats will make your Loggy (I know I had one) feel like you just spent a few hours sitting on bumper of your car.
They are so comfortable its silly.
If you like the open nature of your Loggy, the Cobra XLS will be right up your alley.
The bar is a little bit of a pain for bowhunting but it makes the stand that much safer and a bit easier to climb.
You also have to find a middle ground with that bar.......its not as simple as putting the seat itself higher as you will crowd your knees then. You will have to experiment with where it should be positioned, both the entire climbing section AND the seat itself.
I have the Goliath and Cobra and love both stands.....the Goliath is more comfy because its just bigger (Like a Lazy Boy) but the Cobra is the better Bowhunting stand IMO.

The other thing I forgot to mention was the fact that I would also like to use this stand during the bear and gun seasons. As you know, the Loggy doesn' t have any kind of gun rest, so off-hand shooting is a must with it. But I would rather have a decent rest. This is why I' m considering the Viper so much.

go with the viper, i had the same questions a couple years ago before i bought my viper and then i went a bought a summit viper and never looked back, its a really good stand, you can reach right over the bar to shoot, however you have to be standing. some people say they can shoot out of one setting but i never could...

The thing I like about the bar is that you can sit on it and face the tree for awhile. It really helps you stay in the stand longer to be able to change positions.

Muzzy, what about the summit python? It' s a great bow and gun stand. For bow hunting the front bar is put down and is out of the way. It can be used as a foot rest. You can also take the front bar off for bow season and then you have a more comfortable cobra. For gun season, it swings up and can be used for a gun rest. Also, the python is alot easier to climb with than the cobra. I' ve had the cobra, python and goliath I think the python is the most versatile.

Can' t say enough good things about the Summit Viper. Great stand. Very easy to climb up and down...minimal noise and grips to the tree like a wife to a checkbook before you go on a hunting trip. Anyway, can' t go wrong w/ any of the Summit lines.

I have a Cobra XLS and love mine. It does offer you the advantage of the open front so you can shoot a bow sitting down. But I haven' t heard anyone really complain about the Viper' s bar in the front. You can' t go wrong with a summit. Loggy' s used to be a good stand but they have been left in the dust and are antiquated now. Any summit you buy will be worth every penny you pay for it.
