I hunted with a gun today. I found myself trying to finger my release all day. Old habits die hard. I didn' t shoot the thing so I guess it' s not a mortal sin. I saw a lot of deer, mostly does and one little rag horn spike. Heading home tomorrow. Had enough gun hunting to keep me for a while. I found a couple nice spots for a climber the next time I' m up here bowhunting though. I sat in one spot this morning and had 13 deer pass. They came in ones and twos with one group of 3. Came from all directions. Really cool. I don' t understand why some of them didn' t wind me.... but they didn' t. Could have killed most with my bow.

Tell me you were behind a beagle or a pointer and carrying a shotgun at least David....I finally feeling guilty for the one I took with the slugger last year. All it takes is one taste of my venison neck and green chili tacos and all is forgiven

I seem to have had the same problem. Sat. was the first day of muledeer season here in utah, and i had to go afield with the gun. I am glad that i was lucky enough to get a little fork horn, but man, I' m an archery hunter.

Don' t feel bad I love my guns. The only thing wrong with the bow is there is no bang. I love reloading for my guns as it makes it that much sweeter. I guess I am just not a bow only kind of guy. I just love my 445 supermag Dan Wesson and my 338 win mag and 7 mm rem mag and 270 weatherby mag too much to give up on. I love them all. So don' t feel bad just enjoy all the seasons that are available to you.

May the Lord have mercy on your soul!!
I finished up my season Monday morning with a good doe. Someone asked me prior, " aren' t you going to save a tag for rifle season?" My response was, " What in the h*ll fun would that be?" I think that the Man Upstairs will take some pity on you Dave!!

I pulled out the gun on Saturday.
Spent the early morning grouse hunting and then slipped into my tree stand later on for some evening bowhunting. Had alot of fun.

I haven' t shot a deer with a gun in a couple years. I hadn' t shot my 06 since last years sight in. So, I went to the local range at my brothers place. He said, " Don' t you want to shoot at a closer range first" . I ask, " WHY" ? He said, " to get on paper first" . I said I didn' t think it' d be necessary. Now this is a 35 year old Remington 760 Carbine in 30-06. First shot was at 11 oclock one inch high. The second shot was at 11:30 1/2 inch high. I put the gun back in the truck and helped some others. The zero hasn' t changed in 10 years. That gun hunting is tough.
