Ok! Here is the scoop straight from the horse' s mouth.
Left work and went to area under conditions as previously said. Got to area and threw on camo coat that he was wearing on the job (job calls for camo at times).
Got in stand. Observed that many deer were running all around the area, and the big boys were chasing the does. Was watching deer when he happen to look down and there was the buck standing below his stand. He was going to pass on the buck because it was not the buck with the rack he wanted. In stand time was 30 min to the max.
The buck he shot is an 8-pnt with " kickers" and has 16 scoreable points. Estimated live weight is 335 lbs. The buck he wanted is slightly smaller in body but has a large rack with 16" G2' s and almost the same G3' s.
Other buck was 175 field -dressed.
Shooter advised that area he hunts is hunted only by two hunters and has been managed for several years with a " no buck" policy unless necessary to cull for genetic reasons.
I will have the pictures of the harvested buck tomorrow.

Think of it this way........if the wind was not in the hunter' s favor he would not have gotten a shot, perhaps never seen the deer!
There isn' t a mature buck or mature doe for that matter, out there that is coming near you if they smell you!

just proves if you have a good stand and play the wind you dont need all the gimmics and garb that comes with modern hunting...i dont practice much of it myself...i go out in my hunting clothes that either werent washed or washed in just water to remove old blood stains ect...millions of deer have been killed over the years....without all these scent lock suits and picture like camos ect ect....i still perfer my military bdus....i mean i have some modern camo but it wouldnt bother me if i didnt....im only 16 too....i should be the one buying and using all this new " technology" heck...i dont own a bottle of scent, scent killer, or anything....and i only own 1 tiny call incase i have to stop a deer....i havent even used it on a deer yet in 2 years now....i do like my new hydration pack though lol....but theres no reason to talk about the guy just because he scored on a nice buck....he has a good stand and a good wind direction and in a treestand camo doesnt really matter all that much unless you have smart deer that always look up....i cant say ive ever seen a deer look up in my life except on tv when they spotted someone moving......i dont think you need all that to be a successful hunter.....thats just me though.....congrats to that guy and his nephew...sounds like a great day out in the woods to me!!!

PS: I told my wife that " It is the hunt, not the kill." She said; " Good, you can get rid of all your bows and bow gear, and not buy any more stuff!"
