Well things finally came together for me yesterday evening as I filled my doe tag. Up until last night, no matter which stand I chose to sit in, the deer would always walk right past my other stand. Talk about frustrating!
Yesterday I was finally able to try a totally different tree that would give me about a 20 yard shot. We had some bad apples from our tree at home so I took those with and set them out also. About 7 pm, a fork buck and 5 does came down the trail just perfectly and fortunately they stopped at the apples. I was amazed to see the fork still had spots. I hope he has a chance to grow up since he seems to have some real good genetics. One of the nicer does finally presented me with a good shot and I was able to make a perfect double lung shot. She went about 40 yds before expiring.
I didn' t shoot a deer last year and this is only the second one I' ve shot with my bow so I was pumped. I spent over 4 hours at the range this past week shooting my bow trying to get everything perfect again. It' s a great feeling when all your hard work at the range finally pays off.
Now it' s time to focus my attention on a couple real nice bucks that I' ve got my eye on.
