SKEEREWED my shoulder opening morning!

Mountain Cur I really over did it on a couple of practice sessions and got my bow arm elbow really hurting, I have played sports for years and knew it was not an " injury" , nothing popped, nor was there any immediate pain, the pain came the second night. I would take both Navy' s advice if you are sure it is not an injury, or go with what cableguy is saying and see a doc if you are not sure. I know you do not want to hear this but stop practicing until you are pain free and as navy said do not take pain killers and then practice because it doesn' t hurt, you will just make it worse. My elbow is still a bit tender but far better now, I took the advice navy gave and it has helped me a lot, but remember I have played a lot of sports over the years and know the difference between a tear, a sprain, and a simple over worked muscle.

I have had a pain resembling that in my shoulder for years. However it is not to that extent. It happened when I was drawing straight to my cheek. Ever since it happened I now have to draw to my chest and the raise up to my cheek. If I ever try and draw to my cheek the pop will happen and I won;t be able to draw back for weeks.

bobo I am not a doctor, but if you had or are having an occasional pop followed by PAIN you need to dee a doctor, something is wrong and the more times you accidently have this pop the worse the injury is going to get. I will be honest though, I would wait if it doesn' t hurt now until after the season was over!

This is why I keep my bow hanging on a nail in the garage until the day before the season starts. Then I go out and shoot 2-3 arrows at one of those 3' x3' foam targets at about 10-15 yards. If I can hit that with all 3 arrows then I figure I have a good chance at hitting a deer out to 30-35 yards. Our deer are big here. That way I only pull my bow back half a dozen times a year or so, so I don' t put any strain on my arms. Oh, I also use good broadheads that I keep in the garage all year also, so if I hit a deer anywhere, it should go down. I scrape the rust off of them before a go out, though, just in case.

OK, don' t kill me, I' m just kidding. I just finished reading through all of the new posts today about ethics and shot placement and blaming equipment and all that stuff and I was feeling ornery.
I agree with Taz, go see a doctor. It just doesn' t seem worth the possible long term discomfort of not getting it checked out. I just got poked in the eye pretty hard this weekend to the point where I thought my eyeball probably got knocked out of the socket. Luckily it didn' t, and although it hurt like hell for a couple of days, I can see fine and it feels good today. However, I have an appointment tomorrow to get it checked, just in case.

Cableguy, I don' t intend to take the kind of advice that you are speaking of, I was just wanting to here from those that have experienced the same thing. I can tell that it is getting better every day, today I didn' t experience any sharp pain while driving with my left hand. To tell the truth, I' m like tazman, if it can wait at least until gun season then that' s what I' m gonna do. Nothing popped, I really feel that it is probably a tendon. I work at a hospital and as soon I see the doc. in the hall that I want to see, I' m gonna talk to him about it. Only problem is, I work nights, so I don' t see them very often. In reply to what Navy said, I' ve been taking glucosimine chondroitin for several years now anyway, it really does help with the joints. You really can' t tell how well it works, until you forget to take it for a few days, then you start to notice little aches and pains. Enough rambling, thanks to all you guys, when I' m on this site, it really does feel like I' m talking to friends, even though I don' t post very often, I' m here lurking as much as possible!

Well, a couple of things. I' ve had tendon problems in a couple places. The cure recommended by the docs was....Take some heavy doses of Motrin, about 600 milligrams 3 times a day for a couple days and see what you get. It' s more than likely just some tendon inflamation or something. If you feel no better see a doc. I know you say you shoot a lot... but it' s possible it' s a form problem(like shoulder high) to or a misfit in the draw length department. Just something to think about. If the motrin seems to do the trick, just pop a couple ahead of time when you' re going to be doing a bunch of shooting or workout of some sort.

Not trying to be a hard a$$ or anything, but I am 22 and have been playing baseball since I was 5 and my shoulder pops every time I rotate it. 7 years of football didn' t help either. Just have to get tough and go through it. I promise once you stick that deer all the pain will be gone. If you think something is seriously wrong then get it checked out, but it sounds to me just a strain and some inflamation. After I tore my ACL in my knee and had surgery, the doctor prescribed me some Vioxx for the inflamation and pain. Has worked the best on pain for me than anything I have ever taken over the counter. Good luck this season!!!
