How long would you wait?

No I didn' t. I didn' t think it was worth the head and the hide and a few bones. Its incredible how they picked that thing clean. Even the strips of meat between the ribs was gone. TWO BEARDS: Will the wind play a factor in enter from the creek? I like hunting the stand with a NW wind. I come in from the SE field. But if the creek will kill my scent I will gladly use that route.

Looks to me like a great access route with a NW
wind. Hopefully the banks are high enough to
keep you out of sight. Remember that when you
get in and out of the creek - don' t use deer crossings -
once you get out of the water you will start leaving
ground scent.

So I shouldn' t leave any scent by walking in the creek? If the wind is out of the NW my scent will go into the tall weeds in the south opening which is out the picture at the bottom. If I do come out of the creek just SW of the stand I will have to cross trails. The deer I saw last weekend came from the south along the creek edge. Then turned east towards me.

What do you mean what could I have done to recover the first? I did what I was always told to do when making a questionable shot. DONT PUSH IT. So I waited over night. I didn' t know there was that BIG of a coyote problem.
