If the rule was already in existance(sp?) about the legal blade definition, how are you considering this to be ' just released' ?

Seems that they were just clarifying an exisiting rule. Almost like if they stated, just prior to the season, that for rifle season you needed to wear orange and people were surprised and angered that this was just dropped on them.

I understand that this would be something that people would be interested in using, but you have to check, before you buy. If you were interested in a crossbow, would you be surprised if, after already buying one, you found out they were illegal(without permit)?

Not trying to be confrontational, just pointing out that this is not a new ruling that they are laying on us, this had already been decided and a lot of people were unaware, of the stated rule. Ignorance of the rules will not prevent a fine.

Bob, the reg was in the book, but the PGC made a point to specifically name this broadhead as illegal. I don' t have to wory about it, but I' m sure there are guys in this state that didn' t know or reallize the issue. I just wanted to make everyone that reads the board aware of the issue. Also, I don' t know if there are any other heads that are illegal in this regard. It seems to me that the Crimson Talon is the first of it' s kind.....a rule was written before it' s production. Therefore CT should at least put a disclaimer on the package saying that it may be illegal in some states....maybe they do. I was just passing on information though.

I asked the Crimson Talon rep specificly about this PGC reg when I talked to him. According to my read, because the entire cutting surface of the blade was not in the same plane, the BH was illegal according to PA regs. His response was that I didn' t know what I was talking about and there was no way that his BH was illegal in any state.

I am sure glad I went with the G5 Montecs.

Think I' ll go to PA and pick up a few Crimson Talons cheap. I wonder why the cutting surfaces need to be in the same plane? Have tests shown this to be better than helical blades? At any rate, I can' t wait until next year when RI gets with the rest of the country and allows mechanicals...

Thanks for the update. I had these in my cart at Cabelas.com a few weeks back since my local Gander Mountain didn' t have my Wasp 75 grains in stock. Then I went and read some reviews and decided to stick with what I know works. Glad I did now.

I don' t know why everone is jumping all over the PGC cause they are illegal. THis law has always been here. It' s original intent is to weed out gimmick broadheads that may not produce adequate penetration. If users, or the company wants the head made legal they should go thru the proper channels.

I agree wimp. I think half the issue is the PGC not saying anything about a new product until the last minute. These heads have been out just one year and even the reps don' t know they are illegal. I believe it is up to the individual to know the laws, but the people that sell them should as well.
