I'm sure you guys get these post all the time (did a search for beginner hunter in Atlanta-no came up) but I figure the only way to learn is to ask. COMPLETELY new hunter, don't even know someone that likes camping let alone hunting.
My post is half question/ half inquiry of any close GA hunters. I've taken my Hunter-ed course (scheduled to take the 2 hour in person session 1st of Oct.) and I've gotten a used bow (older PSE Dominator 3D) but that's as far as I've gotten. I emailed a club president or 2 about looking for mentoring but never heard anything back. Any other advice for finding a mentor or is the someone willing to mentor on here? I plan to head to a archery range this week/weekend but even those are scarce in Atlanta. Any guidance, advice, direction would be appreciated. I'm willing to do a little grunt work on leases if need be (the more I learn the better) so let me know.

So since I'm not from GA and don't know anyone that hunts but I'm still pretty determine to get out there I decided to just get out on my own on some WMA land and just learn as I go. I also have a coworker with a nice amount of land that might be willing to let me hunt. I figure I might come across somebody willing to help along the way at an archey shop, 3d shooting, or something....Anybody have some general hunting advice or reading they want to recommend that's not specific to GA.Maybe some good reading for identifying types of dear, how to track them, their behaviors, etc......
