You guys kill me with this whole " solitude" thing. I love to hunt and when I' m actually hunting I prefer to be alone or have my 4 year old with me. But I rarely go to the field without either my dad or brothers. To me there' s nothing like having your buds with you when you " WHACK" something or to just BS with on the way to and from my hunting area.

Ausie, yes it' s a long walk. The other morning I could have shot a doe out my bedroom door. She was on my deck eating apples off a tree, at the corner of my house. Luckily I was wearing my camo slippers or she would have busted me.

Usually hunt alone. I' ve got a couple of buddies that spend about $1000/year on gear, etc., but would rather sit up at the local tavern than go out into the woods. Doesn' t make much sense, huh?

I would say I usually end up alone about 80-90% of the time. Most of the guys I hunt with barely make it out anymore[:' (] We used to all be diehards...from the bow opener, to the very last day. They usually end not even bowhunting at all, and just making it up to the camp for opening week of rifle season. I enjoy hunting by myself, but if I had the choice, I' d choose hunting with someone. My buddies and I had some great times when everyone hunted hard, regardless of what season it was. And like FH said, I also love the camp atmosphere!

I hunt alone. It my meditation time. My spiritual time. My time with God and nature. Sounds silly I know but it' s true. Uncle Ted' s right. It recharges my soul to be out there. If there' s someone else with you, you spend all your time chatting back and forth and lose the opportunity to soak it all in. Now having said that, this year I will be hunting a friend' s farm and he doesn' t let anyone hunt there alone. And I will be taking my wife and stepson out during shotgun season and guiding them in hopes of them both killing thier first deer. But I do love my solo time bow hunting.
