COOL.... I have seen so many people go on these hunts and get skunked. You folks did great. 2 for 3 is a pretty good score I' d say. And to think, it should have been two nice bulls. Sorry your dad didn' t score.... but you have bragging rights for now.... USE THEM.

Thanks for all the comments guys.
Artic, the weight of meat from mine or my buddies won' t be a good comparison for anything. Where we hunt, we have to pack everything out on foot. So we de-bone the critters right on the spot and put the meat into back packs. We take most of it, but we know we could get more if we had it at camp. But we have one great big cooler full of meat that we have to clean and package up tonight. It took two of us to get it into and out of a truck, and it was plenty heavy!!
Whitetails & muskies, we are up by steamboat springs real close to Routte Nat. Forrest. And they were just now starting to get fired up. Some really cool mornings and afternoon rains brought them out in herds in places. But I tell you what, we seen atleast 5 different trucks with Wisconsin plates sporting antlers in the back of their trucks and on trailers.
Hey David, there was 4 of us. My best friend, me and both of our Dads. That is what made the trip one of the best so far.
The trip was totally non-guided on mostly BLM land and all 4 of us had our opportunities. Some just came through and the others didn' t.

I think you shouldn' t have a problem by then bow. The big ones weren' t really all fired up, just the young and dumb ones.

Great job IL!!!! I' ve never hunted elk, but I can only compare it to turkey hunting when everytime you call...the animal keeps responding and comes closer and closer. What a great experience.
