Dave I agree with all you have said. Perhaps my eyes did do a little magic. If the shot placement is where I thought it was that deer should have been down within 60 yards.
My friend and I covered in a circle then grid pattern an area of 120 yards from the last drop of blood found. No other sign of blood, or hair. I think now that perhaps this deer is alive and recovering or coyote chow.
Should I give up now and move on?

Not legal to use a dog in my state, and if it was I would not know where to begin finding a deer tracking dog. I have a co worker that has a k-9 but his dog tracks people!

Thanks to all of you. I sure did not mean to sound like I had given up the first night. I meant I had given up for THAT night! (reading back on it it sounds like I had given up) I still don' t have an answer for what happened to that shot. Guess I never will. I have been praying that the does survives!
