Could anyone throw some tips my way on getting started turkey hunting with a bow.
What would be a good starting bow?
Thanks for your help.

Default RE: Getting Started

I don' t know enough about different bows to suggest one but what I do suggest is going to a place where they know their equipment. I decided last year that I wanted to try bowhunting and since I didn' t have anyone to teach me at the time I relied on what the salesman said at the shop. He took the time to help me find a bow that wasn' t too big and didn' t have too great of a pull. Being ambidextrous I then I had to determine if I would be stronger as a lefty or right. Turns out I' m lefty for the bow. Anyway, we then went to their practice lane to see if I would be comfortable shooting. I was then fixed up with all the extra gear I needed - field tips, broadheads, trigger release, etc. I was then told to practice, practice, practice!!
I draw up my own targets to practice with. I' ve gotten pretty good at shooting the turkey where it counts though I haven' t tried it out in the field yet. It' s hard enough to shoot the turkey with a rifle! Those turkeys spook very easy!
Good luck!
