I have used Summit in the past, would feel perfectly safe using one and do sell them and IMO they don't hold a candle to a Cougar Claw.

With the Cougar claw you can safely level the stand while you are up in the tree.
The cables are a hell of a lot better made than a Summit and you don't have to replace the shrink wrap all the time.
The stands are 100% made in the USA
All of them have a fold away foot rest built in
All the pins are secured to the stand so you aren't loosing them in the woods
The pins are coated to be quieter
The seat has a pouch on the front to keep your drinks and food close

I have used Summits before, and deffinately liked them. But i will never buy anything other than an Ol' Man. i absolutely love mine. I love the net seat, and the ease of packing it in and out. Also a VERY quite stand. absolutely awesome!

My favorite stand is this supermag.

I love my summit viper and Goliath.
Most importantly, stay safe and use a good fall restraint system.

Summit all the way for me as well. Same reasons as everyone else, but another big one for me is that Summit has models that are all welded, no assembly required. No fumbling with any pins in the dark. Get yourself a high end climber and spend your money once and be happy for many many years.

I have always used API and they are good stands. This year Bass Pro was running the summit 180 on sale for $239. I had $75 on my Bass Pro point card so I bought one. I havent had a chance to try it out as of yet, but it really seems like a good stand.

you can buy the shrink wrap on ebay for cheap..I put mine on with a hand held butane torch..I have to put new shrink wrap on my Summit cables every year..no problem..but a 10.00 cost..takes about an hour...
New cables are 40.00 so I learned how to wrap my own Lol
For you who don't have a Summit..the shrink wrap is a coating around the 5/16th cable..it keeps the cable quiet while climbing and minimizes rust from getting on the cable..

I am over 300 pounds and have had no problem worrying about safety..I have lost a few pounds though since the last hunting season.

I love the Bulletbackpacker model as I hunt in dense terrain. I can manuever in the vegetation without getting my stand tangled up while carrying it in. I've had my stand since 2004...I since wanted a spare when I knew they only made the fold up model for one year..I simply typed in 'Bulletbackpacker Summit and I found 4 stores that still had a couple .I ended up buying the 2nd one from a hardware store from Mississippi.
