2011-2012 Season Success Pictures

Time for a new thread for your trophy photos. :)

iamyourhuckleberry 09-18-2011 07:27 PM

Alaskan Haul Road Caribou

Wyoming Pronghorn

Australian Feral Boar

Australian Water Buffalo

Australian Scrub Bull

A great find while bowhunting in Colorado. I'm guessing a mt. lion got this monarch. He net scored 224 B&C.

Texas Rio Grande Turkey

South Dakota white-tailed deer

I haven't shot a deer with a rifle in a long while and it felt good to do so. I made a perfect "thread the needle " shot on a Missouri ten pointer. I'm pretty proud of him.

1 of 2 cull does from Nebraska, and the second

A Nebraska coyote

A Hill Country, Texas 7 and 6 point. The seven was 18inches wide.

And finally, a Hill Country doe.

I'm looking forward to 2012!

So oct 13th got in my stand warm night for my area around 55 degrees slow mornigng around 830 she and a larger doe cam strolling by around 15 yard. know the bigger doe has two fawns so she was off limits for me so i opted for this nice 1 1/5 old doe . the shot was quartering away it was a little forward .so i gave her a couple hours. i found my arrow with the last 4 inches at the top broken off. the standard muzzy 4 blade sliced wright thru .when i gutted her i found the rest of the arrow and my knocturnal knock was still glowing in her . i skinned the doe cut the doe . and ground and it is in the freezer

Got this doe Oct 16 around 630p. Had 10 turkeys and 8 deer under my stand. Felt like I was in grand central station with all the activity LOL. I thought for sure a nice buck would show but he didn’t make it to the party…

Waited until the last possible min to take a shot, this doe busted me but I must not have scared here enough as she cautiously approached back to my stand. She was doing the foot stomp thing and I knew I only had one last attempt to pull the bow back. As her eyes disappeared behind a small tree I draw the bow and was ready and waiting as she came all the way around. I knew the tree was at 30 yards and she was 2 yards beyond it. I let the arrow fly, I watched my green luma-knock hit a little more to the rear then I wanted but it was enough. She fell in her tracks as I hit her spine. I quickly knocked another arrow to finish her off. I would have felt really bad if I would not have recovered the deer.

I will say that I would have lost these arrows if it weren’t for the lighted knocks, they went right under the leaves and I could just make out the green glow.

Montec Brodhead went completely through her spine but as she fell the tip of arrow shaft broke off, ill go back out and try and find it. Broad-heads are not cheap anymore!

Meat on the table! She was a nice sized doe.

2011 buck shot on oct 14

onion721 10-23-2011 11:10 AM

Good stuff, except...

Anyway, freezer is stocked with a healthy doe.
Took my trackers with me, I'd already found her but I let them find her on their own.
Took my dog about 2 minutes once he got downwind of her, about ten minutes on the blood trail total, he even found my arrow.
We started at the shot location, took my son about 35 minutes to track her using the blood trail.

White oak flat 10:30am, 17 yards, ~85yd track, 3 blade Muzzy.
Lot of activity this morning, heard first buck grunting of the season, rattled in 2nd and 3rd buck of the season, spike and 6 point.

10/27/11 Archery Buck - 9 point, best buck to date:)

GMMAT 11-02-2011 02:02 PM

Shot this one a day after PT's magic (on my 47th birthday).

Great going, Tony.

And yes, I shot it with my Hoyt compound. I've been so busy, I haven't made time to shoot my recurve. I'll still hunt with the recurve, this season, some.....if I can find time to shoot.

RidgeFACTOR 11-02-2011 03:12 PM

Well I got to post in the gun only section earlier today and then found this so I thought I would share my success here too. My dad and I both got our first bucks with a bow this year and within a week of each other mine is a 145" 10 point and his is unscored 8 with a kicker but im guessing 140ish. Also im going to post a picture of my friends 3 legged doe because I think its kind of interesting.
