Default more Target Panic questions

This may be some of the stupidest questions yet, but...
I' ve read so many threads on target panic. Does anybody who suffers from target panic, ever have it occur while hunting? Or, is it only while trying to shoot paper?
Also, if you were to see a fly walking across the same target, would you suddenly be able to shoot at it (the fly) without the panic?
How about bare bow shooters? Does no sights = no target panic?
Just some questions to ponder (worry?) on!!!

PS: I was thinking of selling some " Do It Yourself - Frontal Labotamy" kits on Ebay.
Think they' d help? Think I' d become rich?
John

{ Definately not making light of the subject. Suffered from it for a long time. Just curious. }

Try this - For ten days blank bale shoot at 5 yards working on visulization of holdong pin on spot. Dont PEEK!

On day 11 slap a realeae (do it with your fingers if you can make yourself not release) on and aim at the target for ten days. Aim aim aim aim aim aim aim aim aim............................................... ....do not shoot not one arrow.

On day 20. Take a shot.

You must re-think your sub concious. NOBODY can aim and shoot at the same time. Its all on the back.

Proper from - Bow arm elbow slighlty bent, bow hand relaxed, release hand elbow should be very high in the back.

DO NOT start back tension until your in the spot. Not only does back tension make the shot go off, it also steadies the pin.

I ran an archery shop for almost 5 years and have been through the Bernie Pellerite shooting school. I do not however agree with bernie in all aspects.

My wife is the Texas State Outdoor Feild Champion, 2nd in the Indoor State Champoinship (losing in an " x" count), she won the Shoot Across Texas Indoor Tournament, She won the All-Around in the Big Dawg Archery Championship . . . that was just this year.

This sort of sounds dumb, but I have had slight case of target panic in the pass and here is one thing that I came up with that helps me. I have pins set up at 20, 30, 40, and 50 yds. I shoot the gaps for inbetween yardage. If I start getting a case of the panic, I will shoot at 25, 35 and 45 yards. The pin does not have to be on the target, so I don' t have the target panic. Eventually, I' ll shoot my way out of the panic situation. It' s all mental, so whatever works for you. Give this a try and it may help you especially at the onset of target panic.

I don' t know if you ever truly get over TP. Had it bad years ago, but for now, I only occasionally flinch, jerk, punch - in other words: spaz out at the shot.
Funny how suddenly many people can shoot for a bug on the paper yet a second before, couldn' t shoot at the paper itself.
g-d: I' ve seen many cases & cures but yours is a first.
I' m going to try & keep all these ideas in the back of my head. What may work once may not again, so, the more cures, the more chances of success.
Sharing individual ideas is what these forums is all about, I only wish they were around 30 yrs. ago.

I came down with a bad case after shooting in a league for the first time. I think the fact that I was shooting around other people somehow got in my head. I quit shooting in the league and went back to just me in the back yard shooting at my targets. In side of a couple of days I had my confidence back and was shooting better than ever. I went over to a buddies place who had set up sort of a walking 3-D course in his property and was able to stay in the groove and am still shooting well. Seems to me that once you have trouble staying on target the best way to get through it is to get yourself back to a place where you are comfortable and relaxed.
Good luck.

I would like to take credit for my solution for target panic, but I got it from Larry Wise - IBO World Champion in a phone conversation about 5 years ago.

The whole thing with target panic aint the target. Its just the fact we stop aiming. If you aim and let your subconcious release the arrow - no target panic.

Maybe we should call it " aiming panic" .
