Carrying bow on hunt
 

How do you carry your bow if you go hunting.That is if you do a lot of walking.I carry' d in hand relaxing arm haning vertical but find the bow' s weight is not central (caused by quiver) thus after some time my arm becomes tired of keeping bow straigt vertical.
Is there some thing to support (hang) bow from body or else???

I use a Bow Holster that alot of 3d' ers use. It hangs from my hip and keeps both hands free while walking and glassing or calling

I either carry my bow from the grip with my wrist in the jump strap incase i need to get a shot off, or if its a long ways i just grab the riser and rest it on my shoulder. I think im going to get a sling this year though, its cumbersom trying to get the blind and backpack and bow in, plus my bow is HEAVY!!!!!

Carrying it by the string will be easier than carrying it by the riser . If it' s a real long walk , I' d check into some type of sling .

i Usually just carry my bow by the strings. Just grab all the strings and start walking. But i guess if i ever need to get a quick shot off ill be sry cause ya cant hardly put an arrow on the string when you carry this way. I was thinking about getting a sling but didnt think id like it.

I carry mine by the string also, and just switch hands if one gets tired. But if I ever make it out west, for long hikes across the country side. I might consider one of the back paks that you can strap your bow into on your back for hiking to destinations or glassing spots to hunt. But I' ve never been outwest, so that might not be such a good idea either!

i carry mine by the strings too...but like aaron said its hard to take a quick shot...or just hold the grip so the strings are inbetween ur arm and body.

I carry mine by the grip and usually upside down(string facing down). I find that this puts less fatigue on my hand. I use to carry mine by the string, but it seems to bother the creases of my bare fingers quickly, if i am wearing gloves no problem. If I am stalking, walking a lot, setting up a stand, carrying extra gear, etc I use a sling. This is the ulitimate if you have a long walk or are glassing for spot n' stalk.

I have never worried much about a quick shot opp with the bow, while I have stubbled upon deer while walking in, I just don' t see it as a possibilty with a bow that is unnocked, etc. If still hunting or expect a deer to be near in an area, I carry it nocked and ready.

Does anyone carry a bow while on horseback? If so what type of sling do you use and/or recommend?

I carry my bow by the string, because when I am walking to my stand it is dark and I don' t have to worry about being able to shoot quickly.
