Screw-in steps and a simple stand/seat....you can have one going for 70-80 bucks pretty easy; most retailers would have something like that. Mow a few lawns

Check out Rivers Edge Big Foot Hang-On Stands at Gander Mtn. They are very sturdy and have a nice comfortable seat. They go for about $60 and are far superior to the stands you will find at D I C Ks. Get some 10 or 12 screw in steps and you are in business. Most stands come with a cheap safety Harness.

Granted that more expensive doesn't always mean better quality but 9/10 times it does.

You can get a nice API ladder stand for about $140. I have one on the front of the left side of my property and it seems very sturdy.

Took some 2x4's and built a shooting rail/safety rail (cause it's open all the way around) and I've been satisfied so far.

I like ladder stands cause you can put em' up and leave em' (if you hunt private property).
