Default Bowfishing

Okay i know this is a bowhunting forum but i just have to ask. How many people on here actually bowfish as well? I seen people do it before and wouldn' t mind trying it someday. I would do that after i get good with shooting at targets and such first.

Good idea Bulzeyes. thanks

I do and I love it. We shoot carp out here, bout all there is for bowfishing oppportunities but I' m not complaining. It can help you get good at targets, no need to wait, you' ll either miss or get them, your arrow is on a string so any hit counts, just pull them in. If you happen to be a trapper there is no better coon and mink bait than chunks of carp.

I used to about 30 years ago. Loved it too. Back when I was a kid, you could stand on any old bridge or tressel and shoot all day. Ahhhhh the good ole days.[:-]

Hey Red, I bow fish too! In fact, I' m going out with My Dad this Saturday!
Just carp up here in IL, and even though I don' t eat ' em, there is ussually somebody nearby fishing for them that will gladly take whatever I get.
It' s funny. I ussually get more fish with the bow than they do with bait, and in about a third of the time!

I got a 15 pounder a few weeks ago when I went last.
My Dad got a 45 pounder up in Wisconsin back in the 1960' s.
He says it barely fit in his trunk. Can you imagine?!
I went out with him one day and everything was just right, we got 32 carp in 4 hours! and we were SHARING A BOW, swapping back and forth each time we got a fish or missed twice in a row. By the time we got the arrow reeled back in and reset, there was almost always another one close enough to shoot at.
What a day. I hope you have a day like that too. I' ll never forget mine.
