Default sweeet

Last year my knee was bad and I applied for the hunter with disability card indiana has. If your mobility impaired you can use a vehicle or atv to gain access and hunt from it if need be. Or if your impaired and can not use a bow they will let you use a cross bow.

I lost my card last year and called about getting a new one and it was easy. I gave her my name and address and she sent a new one out. I figured it my knee got hurting bad or after I get surgery it might get my back in the woods quicker. Well I got it today and I knew I could not get access on the FWA I hunt guess the road has to be accessible with any type of car. Though alot of the roads not open are just gravel access roads.

Well I called the state forest in the next town(greene sullivan state forest) in dugger and linton indiana. I asked the woman if they needed any thing from me or needed me to sign anything to hunt from my jeep should I need to and she told me I can come in and fill drop off my name address, phone number, and what I needed from them and a copy of my card and if the park manager approved me I would get a key to the access roads that normally blocked from public use.

I did not expect that but that will help things. Now of course bow hunting from the jeep is beyond a waste of time but I figure a 2 mile drive down a road normally off limits to a spot no body walks to would make hunting easier.

LOL ya it would be funny, My thought and hope is it will allow me to get deep into the woods. A 2 mile drive followed by a 1/4 hike to a spot no one gets to seems alot better then a 2 1/4 mile hike or the 1/4 mile to sit around everyone else.

cant argue with that logic and if there is no hunting in there im sure theres alot of hunting around there so there should be alot of deer on your spot

around here it is very hard to get deep in the woods. We are in areas reclaimed from coal mines so either you run into a long and deep strip pit turned lake, a swamp, or make the 2 mile hike. I know one spot I walked a few years back that is 1 1/2 miles down a access road and had alot of activity funny thing is it wa only 500 yards from the road on the north side of the lake but a swamp separated the road and the spot.

Should make for some good hunting, plus the woman told me the areas where not set for disabled hunters so my buddy can go with me with no issues. This will be the first year I have hunted with someone not sure I want to but guess we will see.

I did give him the you better buy alot of scent killer or find a spot down wind of me.
