Here`s my question, who and what models have the heaviest draw weights? I ask because I`m thinking about trying Cape Buffalo in 2005 and two different outfitters have told me the mininums for buff are 700 grain arrows and 80-90lb draws. Both said they would prefer hunters use 90 or higher. I am currently a Mathews shooter but according to the tech support who i just talked with they only make one bow the Black Max 2 in 80lb limbs.[:@]This I don`t understand because I`m looking at their new catalog and it clearly shows a model called the Safari Custom that comes 70-100lbs. Scares me to consider buying a bow that their own tech support doesn`t know about.

Turk,
First of all, you are either the bravest man I know, or just plain crazy!
Cape Buffalo with a bow?!!!
I too, have heard of the Mathews Safari. I believe that it is a special order bow. Call back and ask for it by name. Good luck on your hunt.

PSE " Gorilla"
100 lb Peak Draw
Over 100 KE with 500+ grn shaft.
Take a " block and tackle" with you to help you draw the bow and a pound of " Exlax" before you hunt, to provide a slippery surface when you are running and the Buf is on your 6.!

The BowTech ExtremeVFT Sampson model will be the hardest hitting of the bunch.......with limbs up to 100lbs. The parallel limb style should make it fairly mild to shoot . Once it' s back that is!

Assuming middle of the road with regards to IBO speeds:
The 100# model at 5grs /lb(500gr arrow) should shoot approx 330fps.....that' s 121ft lbs of KE!! Holy sweet mama![8D]
With a 700 gr arrow you are looking at 280+fps and probably closer to 125ft lbs of KE.
The 90# model at 5grs/lb (450gr arrow) should also shoot around 330fps for about 110ft lbs of KE.........translate that to a 700gr arrow and you are looking at about 270 fps and closer to 115 ft lbs of KE.
Obviously speed will go a down a bit as you start adding things to the string but this should give you a ball park starting point. I' d keep the string stuff SIMPLE and as light as possible for big stuff like that.....no sense in putting together a tank killer only to bog it down with a bunch of extra string junk. As Scotty would say," Full power to engines Captain!"
BIG fat extra bored out Tru-Peep " Super Hunter" , no silencers and something light and simple for the nock set (I don' t think I' d care for a string loop on a 100# bow[
]) I' d probably shoot off the string with a nice big tied in nock set and an eliminator button underneath. Simple and quick in case you have to shoot in a hurry.
Good luck and get them before they get YOU!

I hope you are a stout indavidual my friend . I would sugest serious strength training for yourself especialy the shoulders concentrating on your rotator cuffs , otherwise you may be in for an injury that would put you out of the sport for some time and looking for a good surgeon . Be carefull and take it slow .

Turk Man,
The two strongest compounds that I have ever seen are PSE' s Gorilla and the Bowman Accu-Riser. Now Accu-Riser II
Both are available in 100 lb draw weights.
The Gorilla is still available from PSE' s custom shop.
The Gorilla bow weighs 5 1/2 lbs sans accessories.
But, imo, you need the best built bows you can find at those 100lb draw weights.
Sag.
