Default I NEED A NEW BOW

I currently am shooting an Xi impulse I have had for about 10 yrs, it has worked great and I can shoot it well, so change has been slow to come. However, I know I' m behind times for todays techno, and I could probaly shoot better with a new bow, I have looked at the mattews, and bowtech lines..... they both look great, any suggestions or comments on certain models or other name brands I should try before I buy?? thanks....

The only suggestion I would have would be to shoot them before you buy them. All of the major companies make great bows IMO. I shoot a bowtech presently. Before I bought it I went to different shops and shot Hoyt, Mathews, Parker, Diamond, Champion, Browning, and PSE. Alot of it will depend on what you are looking for, I prefer two cams and the bowtech shot well and felt good in my hands. My brother shoots a Browning and doesn' t like the way the bowtech feels, my hunting buddy shoots a mathews. Long way of saying you need to get what feels right to you and don' t buy one until you have shot it.

Like they said, you definitely need to shoot them. I can usually get a bit more specific with a recommendation once I know what a person is looking for. Some companies excel at particular things. None of the companies excel at everything.

For instance, if you' re looking for:

Speed - Bowtech and maybe hoyts newest speed bow.

Speed combined with very high brace height - Diamond and a couple of the Bowtechs.

Quietness - Mathews, Alpine & Hoyt to name a few.

Quality of construction - Merline seems to stand out here and I would add the top of the line Martins to this list.

Service - PSE is well known to have superior service, but your best line of defense here is a great bow shop to deal with.

Smoothness of draw - Darton, Hoyt and Merlin' s hybrid cams seem to do the best here if maintaining speed is important also. If not, any company making a nice round wheel bow, will probably fit the bill.

This list is by no means complete, just given to demonstrate that what will suit one person will not suit another. It' s because we' re all looking for something different in the ideal bow.

thanks for the input, I have recently shot a mattews, Q2 or MQ2 something like that.....it shot great but seemed a little short for me, it kinda seemed unforgiving, I also shot an Alpine Grand tee-ton, the name may be misspelled sorry.....I realy enjoined it, something in that neighbor hood would do the job. what else is simalar to the Alpine?......also I still haven' t shot a bow tech any model suggestions thanks......Drakes1st.

I just went though the same thing you are doing now. I tried to shoot anything I could get my hands on. And boy they all shoot well but go with what you like and can afford. I shoot differant bows for probably 4 months then went with Hoyt Razortec. I had beed shooting an old pearson spoiler plus and man what a differant it is.

Good luck in your search and shoot them all, then you' ll know the one for you
