which sights have worked well for anyone--

Well if you are referring to non-lit fiber optics then the Impact sights are probably the brightest you are going to get. I have been using my Toxonics Solotrak with light kit when I hunt out of the blind. It helps immensely.
I did notice though that Impact has a new, relatively inexpensive, fiber optic sight on the market which has a small light built into it. It is not bright enough to create a glare on the pins and yet it adds a sufficient amount of illumination to be effective.

Toxonics hybred are a simple no nonsence sight , easy to adjust and stay put when they are adjusted , same with the montana black golds . I like spot hogs allso but they are harder to adjust .

Have you considered not using sights at all? Takes a little more practice to develop and maintain proficiency, but ' no sights' is the best hunting sight I' ve ever used. Especially from the ground.

PA,
I would if i could but i think lights are against the rules here in MN.
ARTHUR,
One of these years i might just get up the courage to try no sights--i don' t know if i would have the confidence shooting at a live animal though. How long do you think it would take the average person to adjust to that?

jsasker,
It was just a thought. Here in PA a projected light beam is illegal but not one directed onto the sight pins. You might also want to consider one of the tritium light pins for your sight. They generate their own light and last quite some time if memory serves me. Since there is not electricity involved I would think that they would still be legal in states that have restrictions on " lighted sights" .

I' d say it shouldn' t take more than a couple of weeks to a month to get to the point where you could consistently shoot 3" groups at 20 yards without sights. Another few weeks and you' d be shooting 4" groups or better at 30 yards. When you' ve got that letoff, you can really take your time and concentrate on the spot you want to hit. MUCH easier than shooting a stickbow instinctively.
The whole trick is to establish a fairly high anchor where the arrow' s nock is directly below your eye, and then learning where to hold the arrow' s tip in relation to the target to make it hit center. It doesn' t take long to learn how low or high to hold for various distances. On really long shots, like 70-80 yards, the arrow tip is above the target, so I use different parts of my arrow rest and the shelf as aiming references.
If you' re not going to be shooting competition, you can even take a magic marker and put marks on the belly side of the sight window to help you with elevation.
If you don' t want to mess with your main setup right now, drag out an old bow and give it a try. You never know how you' ll do until you at least take a stab at it. I think you' ll be suprized at how good you can do without sights.
Maybe I' d best explain a little more about the anchor. I don' t mean you have to have the nock resting on your eyelid. I mean you don' t want to be anchoring under your chin. The corner of your mouth is plenty high enough, though some barebow shooters I' ve known get it up around the cheekbone. You just want to be sure you' ve got the nock of arrow at a point on your face that is directly below your eye.

Thanks again for the help guys.
ARTHUR,
Now you' ve done it!Now i' m gonna have to try it with my backup bow that hardly ever gets any use since i bought the new one--this will give me a good excuse to practice with both bows(now i' ll use one with sights & one without)[8D]
YEP,you finally got me to at least give it a try--THANKS for the guidance with the aiming as i was beside myself about that--now if my work day would just end so i can go home and give it a go!I' ll let you know how things go after the first few days of shooting with NO SIGHTS--may need to get more arrows
