RE: buckmasters bankrupt

They filed for bankruptcy several months ago, and now the whole North American group which includes Bear and Golden Eagle too has been bought out, and the Bear museum has been bought by Gander Mountain I believe.

RE: buckmasters bankrupt

What will this do for sales of exhisting bows and the availability of parts? Will the new buyer still make archery equipment? Will Bill Jordan be shooting a different bow on his tv shows?:D

RE: buckmasters bankrupt

the fred Bear museum was bought by Bass Pro shops.
and my understanding is PSE bought NAAG.

I find that intresting Big John that they filed for bankrupcy severval months ago as they called me to renew my subscription last week and I tolds them thanks but no thanks. If thats the case, then beware folks.[:@]

Big John 06-15-2003 02:31 PM

RE: buckmasters bankrupt

Escalade Sports is the outfit that bought NAAG, and it could have been Bass Pro who purchased the museum, it was one of the big mail order types. Escalade Sports, has in the past, purchased other bow lines which unfortunately have gone bye bye.

RE: buckmasters bankrupt

121553, you are confusing the Buckmasters organization with who they are talking about in this thread. the company going bankrupt is NAAG ( N. Am Archery Group) a conglomeration of Bear Archery, Jennings, Golden eagle etc. Unfortunately the organization that is always calling me and who knows how many aothers is still alive and well. I have asked them several times to take me off their list of who they solicite as I am not any longer interested in being a member as I was in thye past and they still keep calling. Can' t wait till Ohio can join the Do Not Call list . I hate telemarketers!!

RE: buckmasters bankrupt

I think that the makers of the BUCKMASTERS bow, which is made by Jennings, or NAAG or Fred Bear or whatever name they are going by these days is who they were refering to. BUCKMASTERS the club that is ran by Jackie " The self proclaimed Buckmaster" Bushman shouldn' t be in financial trouble with all the corporate whoring they do, what with having Buckmasters vacuum cleaners, 4-wheelers and all[:' (]Oh Jackie where did it all go wrong? It used to be about the hunting.:D

I bit for buckmasters about 5 years ago, I joined for 3 years and in return I got a hunting video that had twice as many commercials as it did hunting. Buckmasters suck.

Don' t get me started on Buckmasters. They keep sending me these books and videos and before I can send them back they send me a bill for them. :(

NAAG did file for bankruptcy or something similar last year. This year Escalade sports bought the company. Nothing new since then.

I quit buckmasters when they tried to sell me a vacume cleaner. They need to declare bankrupcy so someone else can run them

I wish buckmasters WOULD go bankrupt taking bushman down with them. I bought one of his earlier video' s--nothing but commercials. Every hunter in the room was asleep before it was half over.

I got an e-mail from NAAG sayin that Escalade sports bought them out, but that they will still be makin bear, jennings, golden eagle bows.

Jackie the Bushwhacker and ole Russell aren' t going to go down with them. They' ve already skimmed off their " Mega-Bucks" . (Pun intended) Jackie had the world by the ying yang and got greedy and started being a pain in the butt. Even his shows became nothing more than a commercial.

Mr. Waddell is shooting a new RazorTec. The funny thing is that those videos were shot last year, before the RazorTec was released. I wish I could get bows before everyone else :D

As far as the guys hunting on the Milk River or Tecomate plantations, more power to them. No guy in his right mind would pass up an offer to go hunt these places. They are NOT fenced in. They are 100% free ranging and 100% fair chase. The only thing is that it is private property with strict guidelines on what to shoot and what to pass up. No different than a buddy inviting you to his farm where they practice QDMA religously.

i too will venture some day to places like the above mentioned but using BASICALLY the same footage out of the same stand year after year is comical. i would like to see those rockstars ( not you ted) hunting in other remote places getting back to basics. if they spent time showing things like setting up areas to hunt and tracking and going to more states and abroad i just mite watch it more regularly. guess i will have to stick with watching HUNTING with Hank. a good dog never lets you down.

I think Jackie Bushwacked and Ben Gorden :Dare both panzies!!!!!!Its true that I wouldn' t mind hunting some of the land that they do, but at the same time, they have some guide putting them in a stand and doing everything except shoot for them. I' d like to drop them both off at one of my hunting properties down here in the appalachains. No atv trails, no roads.....Just two directions, Up & Down. I very seriously doubt them having such great " luck" as they have on TV!!

I never joined Buckmasters, so correct me if I' m wrong here, but doesn' t being a " Buckmasters" member suggest to you to try an get new members so that you get gifts? The more members you sign up the better the gifts get!! Talk about a scam or what!! So those phone calls that your getting could very well be some member trying to get you to sign up so he can get a bigger prize!![:@]

Mrs. Lewis,
I from the state of Alabama and I have personally seen Jacky Bushman and Buckmasters attack hunters. Not to long ago, maybe 4 or 5 year ago Jacky and some Buckmaster members from Alabama stood on the Capital steps in Montgomery the day an amendment was brought before the House to limit and or bannish the sport of dog hunting in Alabama. I do not dog hunt personally, but I have been with friends who do. I though Buckmasters was an organization for the hunter but I guess it is for hunters who don' t use dogs. Hunters of all sorts have been under attack for several years now and for Buckmasters and their leader to attack dog hunters is just not right. Once I saw this event publicized on TV channel WSFA in Montgomery I cancelled my membership. I am not advocating dog hunting but hunters and hunting organization should stand together. The antis do enough damage by themselves. There are newspaper articles that can be dug up from the Montgomery Advertiser to prove this action by the Bushman.

I breifly joined Buckmasters once and it was one of the worst mistakes I ever made. Withing a week of joining tons of crap started showing up in the mail. Not free stuff. Stuff I had to either buy or pack back up and send back to Buckmasters. To make matters worse they sent me two of every item. I was constantly getting bills for stuff I had already sent back. It was like being in the Columbia Record and Tape club from hell. I have never seen a more money hungry scamming bunch of cash hounds in my life. I put up with it for about 2 months before I finally called up and just went postal on their a$$. DO NOT EVER JOIN THESE CROOKS. They are only interested in trying to sqeeze just one more dime out of you. Although I can' t prove it I sincerely believe that they sold my name, adress, e-mail and phone number to every telemarketer and spam e-mail service on earth. Why, because withing a month of joining I started getting 60 junk e-mails a day and at least 4 telemarketer calls a day. They have tried to sell me everything on earth with Buckmasters stamped on the side. I honestly believe if they could get their name on a cow turd they would try to sell that as well. Avoid them like the plague!!!!!!!

Good for you Ann! I' ve been a Buckmaster member for over 10 years and quite frankly I consider Jackie Bushman a pioneer of good will for hunting throughout the media world. Yes, his t.v. shows and videos are somewhat stagey, but I am proud to have him and Buckmasters as a positive presence in OUR hunting community.

RE: buckmasters bankrupt

Ann, I will agree with you, in the beginning it was about the hunting for Jackie. But it is so obvious that once he figured out he could get rich, things started to turn sour. If you can watch his show or his videos and honestly say it' s about the hunting, you' re not being truthful to yourself. His shows have twice as much advertsing as almost all other shows on the market. Face it, Jackie got greedy, and he is bank rolling you to stick up for him. This board is very diverse with hunters from all over the country. From the posts I think you can get a good idea of how the hunting community feels about Jackie. And it' s not just Jackie, as far as I' m concerned Bill Jordan and Toxey Haas are just as bad. Somewhere along the line they lost focus of what it was all about, HUNTING, not raking in the millions of dollars. The people at Buckmasters really need to do some soul searching and get back to the basics.

One more thing, please tell Jackie that EVERYONE is sick of watching hunters shooting bucks out of some Texas tripod over a huge bait pile of corn.

RE: buckmasters bankrupt

I gotta go with belle on this one!!! Jackie may have been all about the hunting then, but just compare then to now!! All these hunters wouldn' t have the same idea about the guy unless part of it were true. This is just what the public sees. If he is different, then why not show everyone that he is not a little rich boy. He prob. is a nice guy, thats not what I' m getting at. How about some public land hunts, some non-guided hunts, just show everyone he is a REAL hunter and not a money grubber!! Why not promote some ' pure guy' hunting. Who cares about what happens around some stupid round table, or in a conference room, its what goes on in the field that counts. Lets see him get back to the basics and show some hard core hunting(just look at the nuge!!;))!!!;)

RE: buckmasters bankrupt

I don' t know much about Jackie Bushman personally, but I don' t think highly of the Buckmasters shows. They are highlight hunting reels with more advertising than anywhere on earth. I won' t go as far as saying that Jackie is cash hungry, but Buckmasters sure is!

A few years ago in my area I could donate a deer to Buckmasters Project Venision and the local food banks would receive it. Now, if I donate a deer, I pay for it myself and the food bank gets the venison, but Buckmasters no longer funds it. This strikes me as peculiar since the Buckmasters organization and it' s founder are still getting richer and going on exotic hunts all over the world, yet people who really need it have lost their support!

No thanks, Buckmasters!

And another thing, I enjoy watching some of Bill Jordans videos, but I don' t think any of these guys have the skill to find their own trophy buck. I call these guys deer shooters, not deer hunters! Without the ranches and guides, they are just good shots.

A real hunting show would put the hunter one-on-one with the whitetail from start-to-finish. No ranches, no high fences, no feeders, no private farmland where noboby hunts. Most of us on this board hunt in areas that have regular hunting pressure (even public land) and are successful, at least some of the time!

And while I' m on my soapbox, let me just say to get out of your shooting house or tripod and hike into wilderness areas and bowhunt.

Your Grandma can shoot a deer with a gun

RE: buckmasters bankrupt

WOW! when I read the title I thought " why are so many people so concerned about a bow manufacturer, when it was sold? It' ll still make bows." Then I read it and saw what the hubbub was about.

I can tell that there are some who know why I do not buy these hunting videos. Who wants to see someone shoot a gun? Or bow? I' ve seen them on TV and wasn' t impressed. I feel just like some of y' all. Go to public land and do your own scouting, harvest a nice buck. Put THAT on video, including the countless hours YOU spent scouting not what some guide put you on. I wont pay some rich man to hunt some expensive guided hunt.

After what I' ve read here I am glad I never joined buckmasters. I will admit I was tempted once.

RE: buckmasters bankrupt

Wow!! First off I agree there has become too much commercial time on the shows and they need to reorganize there phone calls and membership data base. The commercials I know come from people watching there show and how that brings advertisement. Ann, maybe you could take back some input about less commercials and more outdoors.
I' m from NJ and I' ve gone on a Buckmasters disabled hunt and loved it. I' m not disabled but the hunt was to raise money for disabled hunters to have there own hunts. That kind of stuff is cool and I think Mr. Bushman needs to do more of these types of offers.
Last but not least, the hunting videos that I used to get were full of advertisement and less and less hunting. Now they don' t even hunt, they cook!!! Please get back to basics and start concentrating on hunting and less commercials. I know they pay the bills but charge them more and show less.

Thanks, Al
