Dan....AGAIN....it's not that hard to decipher, IF you have field glasses. I'm not sure where the disconnect is.

Actually, that's not true. I am sure.

It has nothing to do with what I said.....and everything to do with "I" said it.

if it doesn't have solid bone sticking out of its head, decently good size, and I have a doe tag then its down.

This was my 5th year.

There is one thing I do target when it comes to age-young & tender. Hogs. I try & make a couple trips to Tx. or Ok. each year & anything 125#s & under is what I'm looking for.

I go out of my way to avoid shooting bb's. Here during the end of archery and the gun seasons a lot of single deer are shot for does but are most likely a bb. I rarely shoot a doe but if I do it's a mature one or nothing.

Shot one by accident last year. It was getting a little late in the season for comfort and after debating on stand for the last 4 hours, I had decided to take the next doe that walked by. This little guy came in quietly from behind and I only had a split second to decide whether to shoot or not. I had no Idea it was a button until after I found him. I saw some 'parts' that shouldn't have been there and I remember thinking, this aint right...

I hunt mostly public land, with that being said, I pass on 2.5 and some 3.5 bucks but will shoot a button in a heartbeat. Easy drag, good meat! On private land, I would pass all BB's-3.5.

Never killed one. I've almost released an arrow on a couple of them before getting the positive ID on them. I cant tell til they are close. They seem to have a lighter hide then the older deer.

A BB and a 1.5 yr old may relocate elsewhere. You may never see them again. Not until 2.5 yrs plus do bucks usually choose a core area.

I don't shoot them on purpose, but have killed a few. Killed one this year after passing him up at least three times. He bedded close and allowed me to climb down walk over and take the shot. At that rate, I figure no loss on a deer that doesn't fear or know about human.

No need to beat yourself up for shooting a button buck IMO. I would feel waaaaaay worse shooting a 2.5 year old 135" 10 point.
