Well fellas back in the 80' s I sat down and had lunch with Ted
I will tell you this much I learned alot in that 1 1/2 hour stay.
Ted is Very Passionate and all High Energy when it comes to our Great Tradition and I am Proud to have him on our side!!!
Some may misunderstand his ways but I can guarentee you this much there is not a Man Alive today that feels as strong about protecting our rights as Ted!!!
And by the way just to clear up the faulse statement made by someone :
Ted is and has always been Drug and Alcohol Free so don' t even come off with that B/S because that is indeed a Fact!!

I' ve always questioned Ted' s approach in being a spokesman for hunting, thought he went a little to far with his views and attitude, however, I saw him perform last night in concert with ZZ Top and I have to tell you this guy is pretty dang amazing. He is an all American man with all American values. He won me over, especially with his song " Kiss My A.." that he dedicated to the Dixie Chicks. The topper was when he pulled out his bow and shot a likeness of Saddam. Ted rocks, literally.

I never know what he is going to do or say next that is one reason I watch him. He is also one helluva good shot with his bow!
I don' t think I would pick him as my regular hunting partner either, just because he seems a little crazy....LOL


Don' t know if I would say ALWAYS? He seems like to me have may have inhaled once or twice.;)

But he will be OK in my book, just because he is a hunter.

Never met the dude myself, but I' ve heard he' s one really intense guy.

Try reading his book: GOD, GUNS, AND ROCK AND ROLL.
Although it has some stories about his adventures as a hunter, gun owner, and special duputy, it also has very important messages about being responsible parents to our kids and doing the right thing ALL THE TIME (including taking only ethical shots in the field) -- about setting your moral compass to True North, and being a proud example of a good man.

I wish more people had the guts to stand as strongly behind what they believe in as he does.

There is no doubt that the Nuge is THE best spokesman for me.

I' m glad he offends those in the middle and makes them think - hope they don' t get hurt falling off the fence.

I' m glad he offends the left - and - if you' ve ever heard him DISCUSS a position with a leftist you would know he articulates ' my' position very well - he takes one through simple reasoning steps and draws out one conclusion - OURS.

I' m a PROUD TNUSA member and always will be. I do my best to emulate the principals & ideals he puts forward - and I' ve even been seen at the local tourneys with my Zebra striped cowboy hat once or twice;)

TNUSA, Kamp for Kids, Sunrize Safaris - you' d be hard pressed to find someone who does more - or does it more well.

Fred Bear & I Just Wanna Go Huntin are my pre-shoot jam songs just before we unload from the 4x4 & take the 3D course by storm.

Ted had a good influence - and Father Fred had the spirit in him too:

I have read your posts and now for some repeat and a little more. I have had not only the chance to sit at the dinner table, but the opportunity to exchange words. Ted can be outspoken. He speaks his mind clearly and does not care where or who. He has a voice that gets listened to. I have been in many of room where he has spoken and everyone shuts up to listen. I read someone say I would do alot more if I had his money. What do you do with your money now bud?? Do you pay to help any cause other than church? Ted has been named each year in his state as the upmost conservationist. Each year! Has many literary awards for his books and articles. And the list goes on and on. You may not agree with him on everything, but who around here agrees on everything? Just know that, from what I have seen and heard, he has done more than all of us on this board probably put together for our lifetimes. As for the wack' em and stack' em. Is that not what you do when you bring in, on the east coast, Three or more deer by the end of the day?

I dont think anyone is argueing the fact that Ted does alot for hunting and gun owners. That arguement is getting pretty lame! Dont even try and compare what Ted does with his money and what others would do with theirs for our sport if they had half his money! How much money do think Ted makes just from hunting alone?[:o]
Every frickin time this subject comes up and people give their honest opinion about wether they feel he is a good voice for hunting the Nugent fan club comes in to defend Ted as though we dont have a right to our own opinion. Right here is where I' d put that big ol middle finger icon![>:] Get over it!

I didn' t read through most of the posts, as I got a pretty good vibe off the first few. I just don' t get it. To me, this all seems so judgmental, and that being on a personal level alone. So the guy is eccentric, big deal. He does more good with those eccentric words than dang near any other pro-hunter/pro-gun ' celebrity' (or otherwise) out there. How would you prefer him? Jackie Bushman? Then who? Seems to be many a person bitches about those guys quite often in these forums as well.

So what are you ' complainers' doing to protect hunting and our right to own guns? Are you in schools talking about it? That' s free the last time I checked. Are you on the corner handing out pamphlets encouraging folks to call their local representative' s in an effort to gain more regional support?

I hate to sound negative here, but there is nothing I hate worse than an armchair quarterback. It' s awfully easy to be sitting at the computer bitching about the efforts of someone who does more in one day for hunting than most of us will do in our entire lives.

Just my two cents.

My quote that you used has nothing to do with money. It is time spent protecting our rights. When hound hunting came up on the ballet I took out two new reporters that did positive articles for our state. I wrote my letters. Educated the non hunters that came into my shop. When trapping came up I did alot of the similar things to try and educate. I held youth groups and educated all of my racer buds that don' t hunt, most don' t even have a clue what hunting is. Lots of the younger crowd have moved from the outdoors to the indoors of their cars. You lose the younger you lose your rights to hunt. It is just a matter of time. Ted is one of the few that can reach out in a large way to that crowd and bring them into our world. I have seen him do it a many of occasion. He was at our last company picnic and man can he take care of business. We all may not agree with everything everone does so do what you can when you can on your terms. You are after all the only person you see in the mirror everyday.
