It obviously depends on where in Sauk Cty you're hunting. Generally speaking though, I would say it's as good as anywhere. You might want to check how close to the CWD zones you are...

Default Sauk County

I hunt the Sauk/Richland County line about 30 Miles South of Wonewoc. A place called Bear Valley. The Deer all have 2 legs longer than the other 2 from running around the steep ridges.

Wonewoc is just over the line in Juneau county. I have hunted there for 10 years. There are some dandy bucks around if you get in some of the better spots.

Papadave, you are correct about the deer being built differently in the hill country. They seem to be shorter in body length and have barrel chests and smaller hind quarters. They can zip around those hills like nobody's business!!

Yea I saw that Wonewoc was in Juneau County. My buddy said the ground was in Sauk County so obviously the ground is south of Wonewoc, but I am not sure how far south. And Greg is this the area where you have had all of your success?

No, I didn't have real good luck there as it was mostly all open field hunting with almost no timber. I did get one 130 inch buck there. However, if you get into a more timbered area, there are a lot of good bucks in the Sauk county area. It is definitely worth checking out.

Check out the Dells..........the doe to buck ratio is like 6:1. Yeah I said doe to buck ratio if you know what I mean. On the serious note, Sauk county is great. Hold out for the big boy. Good luck
