RE: Shot selection poll - please post - pictures
1) No
2) Yes 3) No 4) No Some of those quartering-to shots are questionable. I do it all the time with a gun, I'm not sure why it is so taboo with archery gear. I know people who've killed deer with neck shots. I shoot a compound. PBB Pick a hair.....or a caruncle!! |

Very simple, the only shot I have at the moment of the pics, is #2. Given a few seconds/minutes, I would be letting lose with some carbon on the rest of them as there is plenty of light and the only one that looked like it might be ready to bolt is #1. I too agree with the fact it shouldn't matter what day of the season it is. If you wouldn't take a shot on opening day for reasons of doubt, you shouldn't take that same shot at last light on the last day no matter how big a buck.

From a treestand, I'd consider A, provided I could draw unseen. B, absolutely. C & D, no. Compound. I find it interesting people passed on A @ first, then as the thresd progressed, A was taken.

Could we get some pictures, of deer muscle structure, bone, organs. Before I answer this, because all of the shots might be ok shots, if you know what you are shooting at. With traditional equipment, the only one I would shoot is the second picture. With a compound Im unsure, they should have a webpage with all of the angles, with organs, bones, muscles showing. That first picture, turn in 180 degree's with the same angle, and that was the shot that took my bear, In front of the shoulder. Good shooting,
