Default Two week vacation ended in success.

I was lucky enough to be able to take two weeks off of work to go hunting. I made it up to northern Michigan on Nov 2nd and couldn't wait to get into the woods.

After hunting for the majority of my first week, I did not have a deer on the ground. I went out on the evening of Nov 5th with high hopes. It was cold, light breeze, and over cast. Perfect hunting weather.

I was hunting 22 acres that my Pop and I bought this past spring. I decided to sit in a 8' x 8' x 6.5' box blind that my Pop just built.

At 500 pm a four point buck showed up about 100 yards north or me. My Pop saw this buck the week prior and I told him that it was his deer and I would not shoot. All I could think of at the time was that it figured.

at 530, while watching the buck walk around, four does appeared 60 yards to my right. With light fading the four slowly made their way in. With about 10 mins of light left one of the does presented an 18 yards broadside. I drew back my Darton Bow and let her have it. After the shot she jumped, kicked, and did the death run. I watched her run 40 yards and flip in the air. I then heard a crash and all was silent.

I waited about 15 mins and climbed down to look at the arrow. I found great blood on the arrow but no blood trail. I decided to walk to where I watched her drop. When I got to the area I heard a deer take off running, then snort at me. Since I didn't think a wounded deer would snort I continued to look. I found nothing (now mind you that my property was recently logged, alot of downed brush and thick new growth).

I backed out and called a friend. At 830p we returned and continued the search. My buddy found the blood trail and we started to track. At 60 yards from the stand we lost the blood. I just happened to shine my flashlight into a dead fall and saw the deer's head sticking out. When she died she burried herself under all the brush.

This deer is number 25 for my career and eleventh with a bow.
