You know the poacher(s). They showed you pictures, great. You want them to know you are not happy but still you won't mention names. Since you went out of your way to make this post to tell them so, I'm guessing they are probably members on this board. Maybe someone with nothing better to do will check member profiles to see how many are from Fulton Co. IL. Given the average poacher's IQ, I'd imagine they won't be difficult to identify.

If you're not gonna turn him in then you might as well sell your bow until you decide that no matter who is poaching, it is wrong and should be reported. Class act blackhawk.

Doesn't sound like much proof to me. I don't blame ya for not turning him in. You only heard a shot, then saw a deer next day?

I myself have to be sure before turning someone in. People don't realize the effect it could have one people's life if they are wrong. Me for instance. Three years ago, I was bowhunting during the muzzleloader season for does. So there was a muzzleload shot down the hill from me. A doe I figured. Never saw it. A few min later, I shot a 5 pt buck. I see my neighbor starring at me, thinking I shot it and she didn't realize it was doe muzzleloader season. Talked to the DNR, they looked at the animal and said, no problem.

But it was a problem. Caused me several days of problem in the line of work I do. I was going thru a security clearance and had to report the incident. That led to long talk with anther investigator. It was cleared, but was uncalled for. And all because the ignorance of a lady making assumptions.

People don't realize what they are doing to others if they don't have proof.

It doesn't matter if you have proof. He obviously knows what happened. Maybe he can't prove it and the poacher may not get caught for this one but the guy will be put on the black list real quick and the warden will be keeping a close watch ont he guy. Even if he doesn't get in trouble maybe a warden showing up at his house questioning him will force him into spilling the beans and comeing clean, quiting poaching all together because he knows he almost got nailed, ect. There is more than one way to convict a poacher than an eye witness. They can do gun powder residue tests go to the supose scene and look for trace of bullets and blood where the deer was shot ect. A .22 huh sounds like he knows exactly what happened and most likely was a head shot and close. Wouldn't be hard to find for a warden after locatingthe skull and cape. Waiting is how poachers get away....... Could it be a missunderstanding?? Sure, but i highly think this guy knows exactly what happened. Hope the poachers get caught. Then maybe this thread will come back to bite the poster in the butt since he knew about it all along. WCL

But I might think your a poacher. Are you? Should I turn you in? Make sure the DNR has thier sights on you in case you get out of line? I mean all taxi's are poachers I hear.

If you do not have proof, then your doing wrong. More is at stake than a deer. Some people's lively hood. All could be because of nothing.

So if your wife or girlfriend is raped and you are shown a picture by someone of her tied up do you not report that someone ????????? He would know something weather he did it or not.

Even if he simply reported the gun shot and the approximate time of the shot, and the direction where he heard the gun shot from, some investigation could be done and depending on if anything was found, could depend on the out come of the whole thing. Nothing found, no harm no foul, something such as a gut pile found, then more investigation could be done..
I agree, I think the poster knows more than was posted.
